CSI: NY - Stuck on You

CSI: NYI know I sound like a broken record at this point but the direction of this show is really ticking me off. It has the potential to be so much better. Anthony Zuiker, the creator and producer behind all three CSI: shows, cannot possibly be paying attention when this one is being made. Because if he was, he'd see how it pales in comparison to Vegas and Miami.

My big thing is backstory because I like to know where a character is coming from. After this episode, I finally figured out what the writers are doing. They book-end! They have a bunch of cases and a bunch of small backstory tidbits and rather than take the time to weave them together into a seamless episode, they simply bookend the two cases with the backstory at the beginning and end of the show making the cases and backstory completely independent of each other. There's a phrase for that. It's called being lazy.

The cases were pretty standard, nothing too mind boggling. The first one involved some nameless rich guy who was making out with a model on a rooftop. An arrow came flying out of nowhere and went through his shoulder and into the model's... um... "chest." Richie Rich had been hosting an art showing at his loft and the featured photographer's bread and butter as of late had been his pictures of our now dead model. He was in love with her to boot. So when he found out the host was giving her undercarriage the ol' look-see on the roof, he did what any jealous photographer would do. He grabbed a carbon-framed compound hunting bow and took some target practice.

Danny and Lindsay handled the second case. A music promoter was killed after being hit with a guitar. But that didn't completely off him. What did him in was the glue poured all over his face after the guitar whacked him. The guy had been hanging posters for the band he was promoting over the posters for another band. They saw him do this. So the drummer beat him with the guitar and the manager poured the poster glue all over the guy's face. Rock and roll!

And finally, what did we learn about our characters? Stella still has a boyfriend and he has a goatee. That's all we know about him. Also, Mac plays bass in a jazz band on Wednesday nights. That's kind of interesting.... right? Here's the question I'm posing. Lots of times we write these "convince me to watch it" posts. How about this. Can anyone convince me to continue watching this? It's starting to get really painful. Who am I kidding? It's been painful.

I kinda agree with Thomas. It's like on NCIS when they brought in Chip to work with Abbey, you knew he was bound for charachter actor obscurity. And when no one knew who framed Tony, It was as blatant as a train wreck.
As for CSI NY, I'm a sucker for the the whole CSI shebang. Call it blind faith, but I watch them all, despite having been disappointed, because I hope for those curve balls. What I'm waiting for is the cross-over with all three. Say, a casino owner, who owns clubs in Miami, is rubbed out by a New York crime family. It can be done.

I'm watching but only to see the episode where it's discovered that the new doctor is a serial killer. It's so obvious - I mean those glasses are a dead give-away.

You mean the way Danny goes "How ya doin'?" isn't enough to keep you going on?
