by Adam Finley, posted Feb 7th 2006 4:36PM
ricky gervaisBeloved actor and writer Ricky Gervais, creator and star of the original British offering The Office, will write an episode of the American version starring Steve Carell. The episode will be co-written by Stephen Merchant. While Gervais and Merchant have each served as an executive producer on the show, they have not yet written an episode. The news comes from Gervais' spokesman, and there's no word on what the episode will be about or when it will air just yet.

Well actually Gervais and Merchant are credited as writers of the U.S. "Office" pilot, which was just an remake of a British "Office" episode.

yay, it'll be interesting to see how their humor adapts to the new characters and the ones their originated. will david brent ever make a cameo?

i hope not, actually. it's too much of a stunt, most people wouldn't get it, and if michael and david shake hands the whole universe may implode.
