Why aren't you watching Stroker and Hoop?

stroker and hoopOut of the all the newer shows on Adult Swim, you don't hear too much about Stroker and Hoop. I chose to ignore it myself until a friend of mine mentioned it was one of his favorites, so I've been setting the ol' Tivo and playing catch up. Think of the show as an homage to CHiPs, Starsky and Hutch, and other 70s crime TV, but with the added bonus that this is a cartoon, for adults, that can get away with things a live-action show could never dream of. Stroker and Hoop are private investigators with a talking car (C.A.R.R.) who may or may not solve your case and also may or may not leave a trail of blood and carnage when they do. In the episode titled "Ninja Worrier aka Chopping Spree" Hoop, once afraid to even shoot a suspect, goes on a rampage killing ninjas. As it turns out, none of the people he kills are actually ninjas, they're just regular people. If raunchy humor and people burning alive inside conventional ovens is your cup of tea, by all means check it out.

Stroker & Hoop is perhaps the finest original comedy show to come out of Williams Street, easily up there with Aqua Teens & Sea Lab but the humor is more mature and the references obscure. You have to "get" this show to appreciate it. I've yet to see a mediocre episode :D

Keep up the GREAT work, you guys! Casper Kelly & Jeff Olsen have done well here. And casting the whiney & annoying Speed Levitch as Hoop - GENIUS! That's easily the one character that keeps bringing me back.

Because it's horrible. Really horrible. And Andy Dick should sue for gimmick infringement.

Why aren't you watching Stroker and Hoop?

Because the few times I've tried to sit through it, I've not found it even remotely funny.

We love us some Stroker and Hoop around here. I thought it was gonna be lame, but we started watching it and got hooked.

With the exception of Family Guy reruns, I was unfamiliar with Adult Swim programing, until I realized that the episode of Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, that I accidentally saw was part of Adult Swim. So I decided to TiVo a couple of hours one weekend and see what I was missing. Now I'm hooked.

Stroker & Hoop is definitely on the "must see" list.

Does Hoop remind anyone else of Kirby from Arli$$?

I agree, it's good. I've also started watching Home Movies on adult swim, and like it even better than Stroker.

Is it bad that I watch so many cartoons?
