The Shield: Rap Payback

the
shieldForest Whitaker can sure play one nasty bastard. What an F-ing bastard Kavannaugh is, telling Corinne about the affair Vic had. He's definitely turning up the heat this time, pulling no punches on anyone he can get his hands on. Can you just imagine the beating Vic would give Kavannaugh has he heard what he put Corinne through? I also wonder if/when Dutch will jump in to help IAD out.

Ooooh BURN on Billings! Kavannaugh throws him to the Barn floor, reminding him he's "acting captain." And all that after Billings gets a nifty new couch for his office. I have to say, it's soon time to see Billings go. I'm still not sure how a guy we've never seen since before last season could suddenly be Captain, anyway.

What the hell was Dutch thinking, hiding in that closet? What kind of cop does something like that? Why not just come clean? What would've happened had he been seen? What if the old dude next door was the kid's uncle or something?

Yowch with the rat trap on the shlong through the glory hole. Man, you really need to be one desperate, sick bastard to be shoving your package through a plastic-lined hole, one that who-knows-how-many guys made their bitch for two minutes. Oh, and it looks like Julienne's out-of-the-closet as far as his new partner is concerned.

So now Kavannaugh knows of the cash Vic gave her a few seasons ago, and it's likely she's going to give the rest of it up to the investigation. I'm not sure it will do the investigation any good, knowing where it came from. Didn't the Strike Team already clean out the marked bills? I guess we'll find out.

Also, why is it that Lem isn't on probation for what's already been proven regarding the drugs found in his possession? I'm not quite sure why he's not already in jail. And from the looks of things next week, Claudette may be in a heap of trouble soon.

Quote of the episode: "Tanisha's my go-to girl; she let' me tear up her fat ass and sugar walls any time I want."

Corinne liked Dutch for awhile - it is obvious she isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. She never has been.

The interesting thing about Kavannaugh is that he has really turned it into a vendetta. It isn't about catching Mackie so much as it is about him getting everyone who he thinks embarassed him on that fake-out bust.

Meanwhile, the strike team is closing a heckuva lot of cases in pretty legit ways. I think the brass is going to shut Kavannaugh down or he's going to present his case and not get the result he wants.

I'm also convinced there is going to be a fistfight between Kavannaugh and Mackie. They are seriously turning the screws on each other.

Uhm, here's a newsflash...Kavannaugh is NOT a good guy. How can anyone root for such a Robespierre of a character?

I find the character of Vic's ex-wife totally unbelieveable. Uhm, if she concluded that Vic was on the take with coming up with bag of $65k, how exactly does she think she can support those three kids (2 of which could be Jerry's Kids) on her own if she contributes to putting her ex behind bars? Is IAD going to pay? Hellz no. Which means she'll have to start trading her wares again to get a live-in specialist. Idiot.

I think Kavannaugh is going to end up with his own career destroyed. He's leading a witchhunt. I think Vic and Cletus Van Damme are going to end up dead in the finale. And I HOPE Aseveda (sic) ends up resigning from City Counsel or removed from office when that mobile phone Kodak moment of a pic resurphases and Antwone sheds light on the job he pulled behind bars. And Dutchboy will become the precinct captain until a bunch of dead kittens are found nearby.

It was either towards the end of the episode, or the preview after, that Vic says something like 'I'm not that same person'. It will be interesting to see where that all pans out. It seems that he has calmed down considerably after last season, and may now be regretting some of the things that he's done in the past.

Boy do the writers really know how to make you hate the good guys! I have to keep reminding myself that Kavannaugh is the good guy...

Ya, I didn't think Dutch's stunt was all that smart - especially if he has permission. Plus, his waves to the neighbor on the way out were pretty pathetic.

"I paid over $300 for this suit."
