House: Skin Deep

by Tom Biro, posted Feb 21st 2006 5:15PM
For those of you who managed to not set up a season pass for House on FOX, I feel really bad for you. For the rest of us, including moi, who came in late and only got a watch a few minutes before hitting the 24 circuit: talk about being caught off guard. This episode had everything that you'd expect out of our pal House, from his adoration of an attractive female, to comments about Foreman's heritage, and even some fun and excitement during his clinic hours. Hell, we even got to see him drop his pants in a room with Cuddy.

Aside from the show's obvious shot at the parents of teenagers who get famous, the plotline of this week's show was just what the doctor ordered. We saw an interesting bond between Cameron and Foreman after she ratted out the father of the supermodel teenager to Cuddy, and we got to see Cameron "caring too much" in action when she asked House if she "was in trouble" a few times at the end of the show. But at the end of the day, this week was special because House said "thank you" - I think twice, actually.

Not that I was worried enough about spoiling this show that I threw this comment below the jump, but was anyone out there at all expecting this ending? For that model to turn out to be a hermaphrodite was probably the most random thing that could possibly have happened, in my eyes. Left field, here we come! I found myself wishing that House had those "where are they now" episodes sort of like Oprah or Maury or Montel, because it'd be fascinating to know where this one ended up.

Now that House knows that mind over matter is taking the best out of him, will it help him going forward? Cuddy clearly pulled a House on House when she gave him saline instead of morphine to "fix" his leg problem, and it almost makes me wonder if she's talking to Wilson on the side in the interest of keeping the doctor on point. Not only was he thankful to her in the end, but he was the same way with Foreman in the hallway. He has to know that his complaints about the pain is going to negatively affect his thinking - or at least the people around him. I'm also firmly starting to believe that he'll be single at the end of this season, this show, whenever. That being said, it's cool to notice that as much of a jerk as he is publicly, his colleagues actually care about him, even if he does go around calling one "Blackpoleon Blackaparte," telling another that "some women do grow breasts," and ragging on the sexual habits of the third.

I still think the funniest line from that episode was House telling the girl. "I'm going to cut your balls off." I just started laughing and could not stop. Great show.

It IS rated TV14, which usually means sex and innuendos will be present.

#7 - Do you totally miss the opening of the show with the warnings and disclaimers? It does state 'Due to Scenes of Graphic Nature, Viewer Discretion Is Advised' or - at least something to that effect.

Just because it comes on before 8:00 doesn't mean it's safe for children. Doesn't mean anything, actually.

I was wathching the last 2 show's of House with my 10 year old daughter. The first one came on at 8:00 pm and they had a 5 minute conversation about the burned boy ejaculating. Then this last week the show came on at 7:00 PM a time that should be safe for children and this shemale model talks about seducing her father among a long list of others. Is it me or am I wrong in assuming that your children should be able to watch TV that comes on before 8:00 PM? I like that show but cannot watch it anymore. The show is good enough without trying to be so titilating.

Dottore: You're thinking the same thing I was. Not to take anything away from the latest show, but it did remind me of Grey's Anatomy from not too far back. This weeks Grey's actually reminded me of one of the recent episodes of House - the one where the guy has an orgasm while in the decompression chamber.

Weird thing is that it is a total coincidence.

Yeah, I thought last night's episode was just a bit too pervy -- the underaged model had sex with her father (she seduced him so she could have her way), she was a heroin addict, oh yeah, and she was a hermaphrodite (ER and Grey's Anatomy already did that one but not as insanely gross as House).

I like House, but the sex stuff is really bizarre and tasteless. I wish it would stick to being smart without trying to be so "out there."

And this comes soon after Grey's Anatomy had a hermaphrodite who thought she was a girl and didn't find out until she was a teenager, too.

My favorite part of this episode was Wilson and House in the MRI room. It was one of the few times you got to see those two as they probably are in private. Smiling and having fun. Made me wonder if it was ad-libbed or not, so surprised I was at laughing House.

Funny, we were just talking about hermaphrodites this weekend... Wait a minute, that came out all wrong...
