Ving Rhames joins cast of Aquaman

Heavy hitter Ving Rhames has signed on for a co-starring role in the untitled Aquaman drama that The CW has in the works. Rhames will play McCaffery, a mentor to A.C., aka Aquaman.

The series is a spin-off of Smallville. Originally, American Idol drop-out Alan Ritchson played A.C. on one episode of Smallville, but the new series has actor/model Will Toale in the lead role. The same team that developed Smallville is creating Aquaman. Hopefully this means we'll see it on the air as soon as this fall.
