The Shield: Smoked
This was, hands down, the best episode of the season so far.
The Strike Team was back to its old tricks, Kavanaugh turns more evil by the day, and now Aceveda's going to play right
in the middle of everything. Hell, I was even glad to see Claudette back, as it was pretty obvious where the show's
heading as far as her character goes.I think it's pretty clear that Billings yet another cop in the Barn who's dirty, but not exactly the same way as most
of the others. I'd say that Dutch definitely has him over a barrel, and his end as interim Chief could come at any
moment. Oh, I wish I could tell you the spoilers I know, but I'll spare you here.
Vic is pouring salt on
that open wound called Kavanaugh's sick ex-wife and rubbing it in with a dirty thumb. Every week, the interaction
between these two guys gets more and more intense, and though Kavanaugh knows how to hit where it hurts, Vic hits right
back.
You know, I'm not sure who's dirtier, Dutch or Billings. "I should probably keep those -- keep
those in a drawer for evidence." Uh huh. There's more than one way to kill a kitten, Dutch.
Speaking of
billings, is he really that dry with the jokes, or is he just that much of an idiot? "There's some chicken pot pies
in the quick meal." Um...ha ha?
Aceveda stepping up was a surprise, and now seeing him working Vic must
be the highlight of his life. So, who does Aceveda hate more: Vic or Kavanaugh? It certainly helps him in his Mayoral
race to put a dirty cop away, though would a convicted criminal cop's words have any weight on the election? Probably
not a whole lot, no matter how popular Vic is.
One thought I had was whether Dutch was setting Vic up with
that Canadian super pot case. That just didn't smell right, and Dutch knows full well that the last time he threw intel
Vic's way, he grabbed a whole lot of money train cash. It was as if Dutch practically put the money right in Vic's
pocket.
The scenes where Shane and Ronnie grabbed he aforementioned cash was the best. Seeing the Strike
Team resort back to their old cash stealing ways was a sight for sore eyes.
Quote of the episode: "You
never know -- blood is thicker than bong water."
