Still Standing and Yes, Dear are (probably) canceled

by Anna Johns, posted Mar 8th 2006 5:11PM
still standing yes dear canceledStill Standing and Yes, Dear (aka two of The Five: Shows that give lazy overweight men hope) won't return for another season. The cancelation of Yes, Dear comes as no surprise, as CBS only ordered half a season and star Anthony Clark recently announced that he'll be the new host of the next edition of NBC's Last Comic Standing (Yeah! No Jay Mohr!). It lasted six seasons and is already in syndication.

The fourth and, most likely, final season of Still Standing comes to an end tonight in two half-hour episodes on CBS, according to USA Today. While CBS hasn't officially canceled the sitcom, which was the 93rd-ranked show this season, the producers and writers had no illusions that they probably wouldn't return, so they handled the season finale as if it were the final episode for the series. Since the show lasted four seasons, with 88 episodes, it qualifies for syndication.

Thankgod for reruns! because I still think Still Standing is one of the funniest shows ever! How could people think this show wasn't funny. Brillant and creative writers, along with great actors! everyone on that show was magic together! I love Lucy, The Odd Couple,Wings, Married WithChildren, The Nanny, and Still Standing were the best!

Keep both "Yes Dear" and "Still Standing", the women in the two series along make it worth watching. The lovely Jean Louisa Kelly (Kim Warner) make it a hot series. I think Renee Olmsted could have done more singing on the "Still Standing" series. Please CBS, purchase another full season of both beloved shows.

We love the show YES DEAR!!!! We can't believe that they are taking it off the air, it is the only clean, funny and family show left. We are dedicated watchers and want it to remain part of our viewing experience. We watch the reruns 4 times a day and every new episode on wednesday nights. We WANT it to stay!!!!

Television is beginning to take a bad turn much like the Music Industry. They "think" drama is what's going to sell 2 years from now because it's hot now - so they throw out the comedy. I can't wait to see CBS finally fail again! After Everybody Loves Raymond finished up they tried everything to replace it and all the sudden they cancel the shows most think are funnier? Ratings CANNOT be that bad. CBS is a joke... I hated it before except for ELR, KofQ, Yes, Dear, etc but now it's back to the old CBS.

I won't be watching all that over-dramatic crap they got now. they have a CIS for every major city in America now... pathetic.

Add my voice to those who want to bring back Still Standing. With the lovely and talented Jami Gertz (easily one of the sexiest real women in the entertainment world) and the comical Mark Addy and excellent supporting cast, it was head and shoulders above the competition and was truly a pleasure to watch. Since its cancellation, comedy-wise, there is no longer anything worth watching on Wednesday nights, or the rest of the week for that matter. PLEASE BRING IT BACK - SOON!!!

Still Standing ? one of the best in a long time. Really funny stuff. Sort of a prime time "Married with Children" You've got my vote to keep them on.

I loved Still Standing and Yes, Dear. They were both quite a break from all the reality TV on these days. What is happening to the sitcoms??? Bring them back!!!!
