American Idol inspires music teachers

American Idol has always celebrated the most shallow aspects of the music industry, but music teachers say the show does have at least one redeeming quality, which is that it's making young kids more interested in singing than they were before. In some schools, teachers are using an American Idol-style curriculum and giving kids the chance to belt out a tune and let their peers judge them. While these teachers are quick to point out that a show like American Idol only covers limited singing styles, it's enough to get kids interested. I guess that's pretty cool?
