Green Wing 2: Nearly ready!

Green WingThere are some great new Green Wing photos and teaser trailers (and a nifty behind-the-scenes blog) online, in anticipation of the new season starting March 31st on Channel 4. I really like the group shot of everyone in ballet outfits... However, I'm disappointed that Stephen Mangan opted for a kilt instead for a nice tutu. Tsk, sir. I don't see any Sarah Alexander (she played Rachel Hunter) pictures for the new season... Did she do less Green Wing to work on the new NBC comedy, Teachers? Oliver Chris (Boyce) has been thrown into the new group shot, so maybe his character will be even more prominent this season (more Boyce/Statham awkwardness! Hurrah!).

No word on when BBC America will air the new season... if at all. However, the season one DVD is going to be released soon and, if you are an American lucky enough to have a region-free DVD player, you can relive some of the old craziness until BBC America gets around to airing new stuff. If you haven't seen this show before, I strongly recommend it. It's like a crazier, dirtier (and possibly even funnier) version of Scrubs.

BBC America is actually owned by the Discovery Communications (www.discovery.com and see under 'Our Networks'). BBC America is seperate to the BBC we know in the UK, I think it's part of the BBC commercial arm in someway, but that's all. It's a bit like Cadbury chocolate in the USA, it's not actually made by Cadbury, Hershey makes it and uses the Cadbury name to make it sound special, but just doesn't taste the same!

As for the up coming Teachers on NBC. I don't think it's a remake of the Channel 4's Teachers, just a sit-com that has the same name. I've not heard of any direct link with the UK version.

Struan Brydone: BBC America aired the first season of 'Green Wing'. BBCA has actually aired quite a few non-BBC programs.

Thomas: Yeah, the logic behind American remakes of British shows is always kind of screwy.

I really can't understand the logic behind casting Sarah Alexander in the US version of Teachers, I mean I like her and all and she was great in Armstrong and Miller (Nude Practise anyone?) but if they're gonna cast someone from the UK why not use one of the original people and if they're gonna do that then why remake it.

Why would BBC America air it? Channel 4 is a completely different network from the BBC, they're only common trait is that their british.
