The Shield: Of Mice and Lem
Wow. And to think all we have left after tonight is a 90-minute season finale next week. I don't know about
you, but I'm really not looking forward to another long hiatus for this show. The thing is, I don't realize how much I
miss the show until the next season starts.Tonight, the look on Vic's face when he saw that Kavanaugh's ex-wife wanted him was perfect. It clearly said, "Oh, this is too good to be true." What I didn't see coming (snicker) was the ex-wife admitting to it in such graphic detail.
And wow...Gina Torres goes full-backside for us. Didn't see that coming, but someone call Mr. Skin, stat!
Lem puking up ulcers would be a good reason for him to consider a deal, though what more could he do without a badge
or pension later? A nightclub bouncer? Security detail? Retirement would be pretty far out of reach once he got out of
prison, with a big black mark on his record.
And I thought the last rat trap episode was tough to sit
through. A rat trap with teeth? Sounds more like a gorey hole than a glory hole. *rimshot*
So, I
guess Aceveda is playing Vic, which goes against what a lot of commenters said last week. It seems Vic could still make
Aceveda's life hell, though you'd think Aceveda would have a lot more against Kavanaugh than with Vic right now.
I must say that Claudette showed she's earned the right to be Captain, and in looking back at previous seasons,
she's always been the one who'd fill those shoes best. The thing that had bothered me in the past with her character is
how unnatural she looks in the field. I remember in one episode, she went on a call wearing heels and could barely make
it down a flight of stairs. At least now she'll mostly be behind a desk.
Julien's story comes back a
little bit, which as annoying as he is, it's good his story came back a bit this time and gave some depth to his
character.
As for that deal-gone-bad with Antwon... holy crap, why didn't Vic see that coming? It's clear
that saving Lem's arse clouded the rest of the Strike Team's judgment a bit. So, with things going bad in the brink
with Antwon, Lem is on the run for a bit in Mexico. Any way you slice it, Lem's either going into permanent hiding or
will be going to jail for a long time.
I'm not so sure Kavanaugh's going to get anywhere with Corinne,
though his attempt will most certainly piss Mackey off something incredible. Then Kavanaugh will be seeing a bit more
pee trickle onto his head from our friend Mackey -- you can bet on that.
Quote of the episode:
"That's more than an escort; it's a hooker and a hand job."
(I'd mention the "sweet
butter" quote, but that might be going too far, even for me.)
