Invasion: The Key
I'm going to miss this show when it goes on hiatus for the next three or four weeks, but is
anyone else looking forward to that new show The Evidence? The previews make it look outstanding. Then again,
the previews for The Unit looked pretty good too. Oh well, we'll
see.
Back to Invasion, not the greatest episode. But the last five minutes - whoa! When it does come back, there's gonna be a whole lotta explainin' to do.
Christina is still on the lose. If you recall, after Tom and Russel found her and Derek, she shot Derek. Well now she's stolen an SUV from some campers and taken Mariel hostage in the hospital. Christina holds the Doc at gunpoint and forces her to do an ultrasound to figure out what the hell is dancing around in her stomach. Whatever is... there's more than one. More on this this - sit tight.
I'm glad they finally "re-opened the schools." I was starting to wonder if that issue would ever be addressed. As expected, many of the students at Jesse's high school have been "taken" and they all form they're own groups. Jocks hanging around with nerds hanging around with the hot girls. Apparently it takes an alien invasion for us all to get along. I hope the football player that Jesse has befriended will stick around. He seems like he could be a good character.
Dave and Russel found out that Healy owned a boat and a guy at the docks told them that Healy was always going out looking for some island down in the Keys. Russel busts out some satellite photos and finds an island with roads that didn't exist three months beforehand. This whole sequence kind of bugged me. I felt like they went from point A to point B way too quickly. Anyway they took a trip to the island and as they approached it, they witnessed Szura put a bullet in Christina and then Derek.
As Christina died, her stomach came alive. The orange glow returned and it stared moving like there was a team of rugby players in there. Then it ripped open... but we didn't get to see anything crawl (run? fly?) out. Freaky stuff. So now we just have to start asking ourselves, what the hell is in there?
A few thoughts. First off, while I'm sure Szura can do some nifty alien things, I don't really buy him as the intimidator. I mean he used a gun, and for a guy in his position it seemed like a cop out. Couldn't he have killed Derek and Christina in a way that would have showcased what these hybrids can do? 'Cause Szura has had a lot of time to deal with his transformation like Tom. Okay, I guess that was just one thought. Over and out.
