American Inventor: Open casing-calls, part two
This week we visit Chicago, L.A. and Atlanta. It sounds like the next round is actually going
to be yet another pitch round, where the people who were allowed to "move on" will have to pitch their idea
once again. It also sounds like it's not airing again for a while, judging by the previews at the end of the show.As for the judges, I'm really not liking the woman judge. She just wants her own way too much, and really whines when something doesn't go her way. Those guys on the panel must really get a headache at the end of the day.
Oh, and the bald judge? He should start telling people he doesn't like that their idea is "Inconceivable!" Princess Bride fans will know where I'm coming from.
Those allowed to move on this week:
Receiver's Training Pole -- These guys know how to
present, expecially to the audience they'll need to sell to. This thing will be great for high schools, colleges and
the pros. Not a fantastic idea to win the show, but I can see its application.
Bulletball/Bulletball
Extreme -- OK, this one didn't win, but it really was a hard story to hear. I really did feel bad for this guy, and his
idea really wasn't all that bad. I really think the judges were too harsh on this idea and have never seen how insane
some professional ping-pong games can get.
Bathroom door holder -- Everyone loves this
idea, and so do I. Such a basic idea to solve a common problem, and well executed.
Here Comes Nya
Doll -- Why the hell did they let this idea go, yet they let the idea from last week go? Like they aren't
using this purely PR? There must be a lot we're not hearing during the interview process. Anyway, it is a good idea,
though I'm not convinced it's worth winning the show.
The Headliner -- An invention
that's incredibly simple, though it could apply to a lot of people. But honestly, it's not all that exciting. I sort of
felt like the woman was playing the cancer patient card a bit too much. And I'm really hating the woman judge for
Other's that made the cut: Video Tattoo (um, I've seen these, no?), Water Baseball, and My Heart Bra.
The 'My Therapy Buddy' was the creepiest thing I've seen. I think I need therapy after seeing it. In fact, here's
the quote of the episode:
"My issue is the fact that if I needed a cuddly toy to tell me that
everything is alright, I can assure you I'd know that it wasn't alright."
