Criminal Minds: Somebody's Watching

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Mar 30th 2006 10:33AM

Criminal Minds; CBS; Mandy PatinkinWow, I loved this episode. It didn't even feel like I was watching Criminal Minds. It was more like some kind of pseudo-Melrose Place with lots of FBI agents.

This was the second time this season an episode has prominently featured Dr. Reid in the storyline. He's by far the most interesting character in the show and I hope this trend of making him the focus continues. This guy is the king of the nerds right now. He works for the FBI and he gets to make out with hot, young Hollywood starlets. I'd like to shake his hand.

Gideon and Reid are in LA teaching the local cops about how to catch serial killers, when surprise, someone starts whacking people close to an up and coming actress. Gideon decides to sequester the girl in her mansion and Reid gets put on watchdog duty. He takes advantage of the alone time and makes out with her in the pool. But to his credit, he keeps insisting that what they're doing is wrong while he continues to kiss her. He's so smooth.

The threat turned out to be a close friend of the actress: a college roommate who now worked on the actress' latest movie. Once again, Reid got to show how badass he. Maneuvering like a ninja, he whacked the gun out of the assailants hand and forced her to the ground. For this one sequence, I felt like I was watching deleted scenes from Walker, Texas Ranger.

I hope nothing happens to Reid for the season finale because if something happened to Gideon, Reid could definitely carry the show. I'd like to see them do more focusing on single characters for future episodes though. An episode where Morgan or Hotch are the prime focus would probably be very good.

Criminal Minds is the best show on in a long time and as for Mathew Gray Gubler...Does anyone realize that he was a model before this show?.. and let's hope they actually capitalize on just how hot he really is cause he can protect me anytime!!!! Somebody's Watching is the best episode of the season...he needs more focus cause he is facinating.

Hello again. Sorry i sorta sounded like a crazy obessed fangirl eariler. Well, i am, but i do actually have quite a bit more depth than that. I was a little hyper at the time. ANYwho, i was wondering if anyone could tell me if/how i can get an account or something on this site. i think that it would be really cool to post my personal views on various shows and things.
Thanks, and sorry for my blatantly annoying fangirlishness,

I HEART REID AND MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER!!!! (yes, it is gubler to whoever it was that was asking) i love him and hes fun and smart and incredibly stupid at the same time and he is indeed the best character so yay!! yeah..thats kinda all i have to say... the episode was my favorite so far and if anyone can tell me if the seasons are coming out on DVD PLEASE tell me when and where!!!! I really really want to hug reid and i was so happy for him that he kissed someone finally... i am really pathetic, but oh well. i agree that he should have a few more episodes centering on him, because he rules like that, and he is king of the nerds but he is beautiful. and i love him. and i am going to go and continue stalking him now (no, seriously, i have every picture of him that is available on the internet on my computer and i write sappy fanfics about him and i photoshop stuff and- ok, you really dont want to know the rest, but you get my drift... if i could physically stalk him, i would... that would make my day...)
OK, NOW IM REALLY GOING TO GO!!! DR REID FOR PRESDIENT!! YEAAHH!!

This episode wasn't bad - not as gripping as some, but still good. I like the fact that Reid, the genius-kid who barely passes his firearm recertifications, gets to be the hero here. Yes, the stuttering at any female who speaks to him outside of work is a bit gimmicky, but it's in character with what they've set up.

The guy who plays Reid--Matthew Gray Gubler? Gruber? Something like that--has a kind of hilarious web site. There's a strange sketch he drew of Thomas Gibson at a table reading, among other things. Aha--http://matthewgraygubler.com/

I love this show!!! Reid is fast becoming my favorite character, after Gideon. I am glad to see this guy get more airtime, and get to have some 'action'. That scene in the pool got me going, I almost woke up the hubby!
