Run, children, run! Jessica Simpson wants to adopt

As a social worker and an adoptive mother, there is no way that Ms. Simpson will ever obtain a poitive homestudy on her behalf. Unless she learns the proper adoption language, no social worker will approve her as an adoptive parent. Jessica, adopted children are our own, they simply do not share our genetics.

I don't think Jessica is trying to make this public knowledge. Everyone is just in her business 24/7 right now. After all, we're all reading this, right?

And everyone knows what she meant- that she would physically have her own children and then also adopt children. She didnt say I'd have my real children and then take in some other kids. It's just the english language- if you switch one word or say it with the wrong emphasis it makes you sound bad, and she has every paprazzi and newspaper and magazine twisting her words. She is a good hearted person.

For MS. Simpson- a child adopted IS your own- the child simply wasn't born of your body. I hope that no social worker in their right mind approves this woman, who seems to think adopting a child is a fashion statement. If she truly wanted to adopt, then adopt- do it quietly, like most of the other stars have done. To put out all this PR about it (this is going on about month 2 of this story), makes one doubt her motives. Plus, if she has it in her mind she'll have "adopted children and 'her own' children," no child needs that!
As an adoptive mom, I can tell you, no child born of my body could be any more "my child" than is our beautiful child born in Guatemala!
I'm very supportive of adoption, but only when someone wants to be a parent, not because they want to have the fashion of the week.

People adopt for all sorts of reasons, not just medical reasons.

What offends me about Jessica's comment is that when you adopt children they *are* your own, the same as biological children. She needs an attitude readjustment if she thinks these children will be any less "hers" because they are adopted. My son is adopted and he is fully my child.

I seem to recall that Angelina Jolie went this route. Okay, bad example. I thought maybe Mia Farrow but unless she adopted Frank's three (only one of whom was actually younger than her) while they were married she had a couple of her own and then adopted.

adoption is probably the only way she's allowed to have children. that way they have a real chance at intelligence since she has none to pass on. isn't one dumb blonde in the family enough?

Nah, I want to adopt before I have kids of my own. Lots of kids already in the world. Anyway, and I really can't believe I find myself, um, speaking up on behalf of Jessica Simpson, I believe that this is not the first time she has expressed interest in adopting--there's some story (though perhaps apocryphal) of her wanting to adopt an orphaned baby she met when she was 16.
