Jenny McCarthy, Patricia Heaton: Together at last

by Anna Johns, posted Apr 2nd 2006 12:22PM
jenny mccarthyI'm curious about how all of you will react to this news. There were a lot of unkind words written when I told you about a possible talk show for Patricia Heaton a while back. Well, she's also doing a comedy next season for ABC. And, Jenny McCarthy signed on to co-star. I'm trying to think of two more annoying people, but I just can't.

The comedy, by the way, is currently untitled. It's about a widow (Heaton) who "finds friends and a new path to life through the PTA." Because a grieving family is hi-larious.

Bonus points for Anna's 'Firefly' reference.

I have seen Jenny McCarthy be genuinely intelligent and funny before, but it is about as rare as a credible Yeti sighting.
As for Patricia Heaton, I really liked her before her Albertson's commercials. I hope she makes enough in her career to buy her soul back.

A show starring Rosie O'Donnel and Kathy Griffen would be infinitely more annoying. These are two people who are never funny and always annoying.

Oh come on, Jack. As if Patricia Heaton's ABC Comedy is going to be nearly the caliber of Six Feet Under.

Some people find P.H. annoying because of some conservative beleives, i.e. pro life, etc.

Good God if I disliked or found annoying any entertainer who was to the left, I would be filled with hate.

I think it is small minded to find people annoying just because they disagree with you on some issues.

Unlike some of those who reacted badly to Heaton's talk show gig, I actually thought she could be quite funny on Raymond. There was many a time when she spoke for what a lot of women feel when they are doing all the home-making and child-rearing. However, as the show got closer to its end, the writers and producers seemed to turn her into a shrew and Raymond into a bumbling, whipped father. Which was a shame, especially since the show was grounded in Ray Romano's real life experiences. Sadly, adding Jenny McCarthy, who's loud, obnoxious "comedy" is never funny, to your show does not bode well for its future.

Aw c'mon! If you can't think of two more annoying TV people than PH or JM, you're not really trying.

I can think of 10 off the top of my head.

In no particular order of annoyance: Bill Maher, Martin Sheen, Charly Sheen, James Spader, Danny Glover, Kim Raver, Oprah, Al Franken, Geena Davis, Garrett Dillahunt (since he decided to appear in every show on TV)

And if you don't like mixing grieving and humor, I guess Six Feet Under passed you by?
