ABC news producer suspended for bashing President

george w bush; gmaThis gives new meaning to that old advice that you should never talk politics at the office. It also gives fuel to the fire that the mass media is full of liberal, left-wingers. The executive producer for Good Morning America Weekend is serving a one-month suspension for writing nasty things about President Bush in a company e-mail. The e-mail was written back on September 30, 2004 by producer John Green to a colleague about a Bush-Kerry debate. It said, "Are you watching this? Bush makes me sick. If he uses the 'mixed messages' line one more time I think I'm going to puke."

The e-mail turned up two weeks ago on Matt Drudge's website. Green has since apologized. He's been the executive producer of GMA Weekend since it launched in 2004.

Well Tucker, that would all depend on who you work for and what line of work it is. The news media is supposed to be impartial. Now no one expects them to not have an opinion , but when you are sending opinionated emails on a company server to company employees, then free speech doesnt come into play. It was an ethical breach that ABC was well within it's right to enforce especially when the latter email could be considered anti semetic and the former partisan.

Everyone has free speech, but that only pertains to government control of it. He is free to say his opinions till he is blue in the face, just not on ABC's dime.

It's awesome when employers punish employees for exercising their right to free speech. I hope all the people we work for do the same.

The Bush email was his first warning. On Friday he was suspended after another email had him telling his people not to book Madeline Albreight because "she has Jew shame".
