The Sopranos: The Fleshy Part of the Thigh
Making a full recovery is something that the Soprano clan was hoping for when it comes to Tony - getting someone who is really really realistic about life and where it's all going is what they most likely hadn't bargained for. Last week's promos looked like it could have been curtains from someone in the crew - but it wasn't really to be, at least this week. But if you were going to throw a wrench into the overall storyline and not have it be directly affecting Tony or his actual relatives, you probably couldn't have pulled a rabbit out of your hat that would have been any stranger looking than the one that Chase & Gang did this week.
Also, it took almost the whole episode to come out, but Carmela's ratting out of Vito and Paulie - mostly Vito - isn't going to work out well. And now that Paulie has put the screws to the Barone kid, he might not escape the Boss' furor, considering how Tony gave his word to Mrs. Barone in the hospital. Oh, and not to harp too much on titles for this show or anything, but is it just me or are they always right on when it comes to adding value to the show? I mean, "Fleshy part of the Thigh" looks odd at first glance, but after catching the whole show, we can obviously figure out why it was chosen. After all these years and years of watching the show, there are probably a dozen or so moments that stick in my craw.
- Ralphie beating the living hell out of the stripper in the parking lot
- Ralphie ending up with his head in a bowling bag
- Dr. Melfi's rape
- Christopher sitting on the dog and breaking its neck
- Tony losing it at the sight of various animals
As he leaves the hospital, Tony definitely appears to be a different man. When he leaves his bedroom to go sit by the pool (don't think you didn't see the possibility of him falling in) to listen to the wind, I thought perhaps we'd go back into a dream state or find out that we'd been dreaming all along, but it wasn't to be. He's taking life very seriously right now, but that doesn't mean he's not going to end the lives of other people. If Meadow continues being serious with Phin, then you have to believe that's another nail in the coffin of Vito, who thinks he's holding a card or two over the young man's head. Anyone else want to take the boss on, now that he's going to have to look strong in the eyes of his crew and the New York boys?
