American Inventor: Open casting-calls, part four
(S01E04) Finally, the last open casting-call episode. It's a good thing, because
honestly, I'm starting to lose interest. The show had really better pick up the pace and quality of content, or else
the next post I'm presenting to you will be the finale. This week the judges visit Denver and New York again, among other places. The number of accepted inventions seems to have dropped a bit this time, though a few of them that did pass are questionable.
Joey Cupa Coffee's Dial-a-Cup -- OK, this was really just called the "Dial-a-Cup," but I just loved the
guy's name. Joey was like some character right out of The Sopranos, complete with his name and "Bada-BING!"
I'm not all that sure about this invention ... uh, on second thought, Joey, great invention! Love it! (gulp)
Car Armor -- This wasn't a winner, but I had to mention it because
I'm hoping, in doing so, I won't have nightmares tonight. Was anyone else freaked out by the woman accompanying this
guy? Holy yikes!
Character Building Buddy -- Alright, what the heck is different about this doll that made
the judges believe this product needed them to advance it further? In week one, they passed on a very similar doll
because it was obvious she simply wanted American Inventor to market her
already-developed product. So what was this?
Baby Safety Rolling Seat -- Needs some work, but this really
could be big. I think I could see this product making it all the way, so long as some tweaks are made and we get to see
it in action in a real crash test.
Others that we quickly saw make the cut: "Omni-directional toy figure
manipulator", some new fitness aerobics semi-circle thing, a cookie separator, "Shir-T," "The
Boing," "Batter's Protective Gear" and some kind of kid's clothing.
It looks like each
contestant who was allowed to pass will now get 60-seconds to pitch their product again, followed by a Q&A session.
Hopefully things will improve.
