Scrubs lets it all hang out

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 9th 2006 2:27PM
ScrubsInteresting piece over at The New York Times about how the creators and producers were so exhausted by NBC's handling of the show (various time slots, on the shelf, off the shelf, etc) that this year they just decided to let it all hang out and kick the wackniess into high gear. Creator and executive producer Bill Lawrence:

"This year we decided to stop obsessing about how we can bring new people to the show...we decided that this year, we'd just do what we wanted and hoped we would at least be proud of it, even if it never saw the light of day."

Scrubs is the best comedy! However, I find myself battling between House and Scrubs. In a perfect world, Scrubs would be on Thursday night...

Do you really blame ABC for dropping "Jake in Progress" and "Emily's Reasons Why Not"???

Those two shows were horrific... I'm glad ABC put them to pasture.

I think "Scrubs" would have a hard time fitting on ABC's schedule though... because they don't have one other good sitcom to pair it up with.

I like "Sons & Daughters" though... but unfortunately it's going no where in the ratings.

BTW, I've read many articles saying that NBC won't have any other choice but to keep "Scrubs" for next season.

"Will & Grace" is leaving... which means they have a slot to fill on Thursdays. "Four Kings" was crap, "Teachers" is crap.

I think it would be great to see "Earl", "The Office", and "Scrubs" on the same night. Just think... no laugh tracks on Thursdays... I like that! Although... they would have to find another high caliber show to add to the lineup.

ABC would treat it right if only for the DVD sales - Stamos never had a chance ;)

I wish they would stop with the damn Saved By The Bell music between every scene. I don't know if they're using it more or if I'm just noticing it more but every time I want to hit someone with a hammer for it.

Tim, in a recent interview with the creator which was posted on E! Online on Friday, season 6 looks like a sure thing!

I find it interesting that the article seems to offer up some hope that we might see a sixth season for the show, despite the certainity that this current season would be the last.

The current season has been an odd mixture of curiously strong episodes and some dismally weak stories- but I confess I still look forward to each episode as I did the first season. That in itself, says to me that its a show still worth watching. I

Would the show have a better future on ABC? I think ABC might treat it right. But perhaps NBC might feel compelled to treat Scrubs better knowing what it brings to the table: a bit more stability to a network that has had very little to offer for television.

Regardless of what happens, Scrubs has made my life much better. My thanks to the crew and the cast for their hard work.
