Veronica Mars: I Am God

mars(S02E18) Most times when you wake up from a dream and remember most of what happened, there's a lot of symbolism going on. You know, dreams of being late for an exam means you feel unprepared, dreams of falling means you're insecure about something, and talking in front of class naked ... well that really happened. Long story.

This episode was filled with all sorts of dream hints and clues from Veronica's point of view, though their interpretation shouldn't be anything more than what Veronica herself has figured out on her own; these aren't ghosts she's talking to.

Veronica's dreams throw you for a loop several times. was Weevil responsible for the crash? Was Dick and Beav's father hoping to cash in from their deaths on the bus, hoping they'd be on it? Or maybe it was Kendall? And then, of course, more evidence linking Woody to someone on the bus.

The dreams weren't the only thing throwing us for a loop. How about Mr. Wu? Could he have a link in there somewhere, possibly pissed off at how many study halls and detentions he's had to sit through all these years? And then there's the revelation that Dick had a thing with Patina, and it wasn't for arm candy, which possibly throws out that Dick being gay theory. Or did Dick want Patina dead for being pregnant (though if that's true, he's way too good a liar to Veronica)?

Sidestepping the mysteries a bit, though Veronica was accepted to Stanford, it's likely she's not going to make it there. Will it be due to lack of money or something else? Her undying love for Logan? Naaah.

I really hope the move to Tuesday night will help solidify this show for another season. This was a great episode to lure in new viewers, that's for sure. As for the quotes in this episode, I'm just going to list a bunch, though my favorite comes first.

Quote(s) of the episode:

"Just because you wiggle your finger doesn't mean Dick's gonna come."

"Uh, does this assignment come with Pot Stickah?"

"God, I dunno how I'm gonna quit you. Shh ... It's not me ... It's Wu."

"Wallace, have you met my fluffer?"

"Veronica, I think when you get out in the world a little more, you'll discover that not all well-dressed, articulate detail-oriented men are gay. Many of them are just ... Asian."

Ok, the very last scene in the bus, who was that girl with the last dialogue talking to Veronica, and what was in the box next to V? I couldn't tell if it was a box of cash (wrapped bills) or a bomb.

I too feel that the whole Meg's crazy parents has been overlooked along with Madison's special relationship with the Sheriff. I think a possible (dark horse) accomplice is Woody's daughter. Her name escapes me at the momment but she may be letting on more than she knows, and that ditzy/dumb personality may be all an act. I'm just throwing it out there because she's close enough to everyone involved (Dick and Woody) and hardly ever mentioned. I don't think she's the mastermind or motivator behind it, but I think she definitely had a role in it. Just a hunch.

Okay a couple episodes back there was something going on between Madison and the sheriff. What's up with that? They havent mentioned it again, but don't you think they would talk more about something big like that? And they wouldn't just throw that in there for kicks, it's got to be a part of something bigger.(knowing the show) And also, They kind of rushed over the whole "Megs parents are crazy" thing. Maybe they had something to do with the crash as well. I know how all the clues have been pointing to woody, but last season, I was completely thrown off guard when they revealed Lily's killer. A long time ago (but in second season) they had an alternate ending to one of the episodes when Meg was still on Life support and her mother suffocated her. [this was available to see on AOL.com] And the fact that they didnt choose that ending makes me think that they didn't want to make the identity of the person(s) behind the Bus crash known. I think that When Meg's parents found out she was pregnant, they went balistic and disowned her. They didnt want their friends to see Meg with a growing belly because they would blame it on their parenting. So they (possibly teamed up with Woody because of his homosexual affair) arranged the bus Crash so Meg would be killed and nobody would have to know about their awful knocked-up daughter.

Include among the best quotes:
Wallace: Last time we talked, you were bashing Veronica's headlights with a crowbar.
Logan: Ahhh....foreplay.

You also forgot another quote: "It's a little anorexic for an acceptance letter."

I just love the whole Veronica/Logan flashback. I never liked her with Duncan, and the Hannah/Logan relationship was doomed from the beginning. I don't know if the directors are going to, but I think Veronica and Logan should end up together in the end. It seemed like they were giving clues as to if they were going to, because the scene at the dance and when they were at Logan's locker. Also, Wallace is getting to like Logan and that would work out if V and Logan got back together.

This was actually part of my theory before this episode. Veronica has deduced that the killer had to be in eye sight of the bus to know when to trigger the bomb. The bomb was triggered by cell phone (the bomb used a cell phone as part of the trigger).

Weevil is now exonerated because he and Veronica were not within eye sight of the crash.

Everyone in the Limo is still a suspect as is anyone who was hiding along side of the road. (Like say... Woody)

I still say Woody did it. We are going to find out that on the same day as the bus crash Woody's little league team was having their team picture taken. Only Woody wasn't there so he's not going to be in the picture. (The team photo will be discovered in the video shot on Woody's house, but Woody's not in it).

Fantastic stuff. They really decided to bombard us w/ clues and non-clues this week to muddy the water before the final month of episodes. Need to rewatch to try and catch them all. One question, didn't Dick's dad get them a limo to drive them back from the stadium b/c the bus stank? If so, the father hoping to cash in from their death doesn't jive. All signs still point to Woody but now there are a hell of a lot of other candidates. Like usual, I figure by the end I'll be completely surprised. Love this show.

Just a friendly reminder to our friends in LA... the episode is being rerun tonight, at 9pm I believe... maybe 8. Check your local listings.

And a side note to comment number 5 - Since you made the Buffy comment first, I'll go ahead and tie this one in... I've had a feeling we were going to see something more than the bus crash become the focus of the season finale. A la BTVS Season 6... the trio was never really the enemy...

As far as the title for the last episode goes "Not Pictured", I don't have a theory yet, but considering it is senior year and all - maybe it's alluding to year book photos - especially after the year book spread scene in this episode... there might be something there. Just a couple of thoughts.

Mr. Wu -"Veronica, I think when you get out in the world a little more, you'll discover that not all well-dressed, articulate detail-oriented men are gay. Many of them are just ... Asian."

Sometimes a TV quote becomes a classic and migrates into the general population as a "Meme". If this had been on LOST or Idol, tens of millions would have repeated and joked about Wu's Inscrutable Wisdom. It is good enough that it might make it out of VM to the gen pop as a "Asian metrosexual" thing. I know two Chinese-Americans were howling about it (positively) at work the next day, each had a brother just like Mr. Wu.

And finally some new hot Veronica-Logan passion, even if presented as a flashback. I was a big fan of Jessy Schram's character Hannah, and how Hannah was becoming an appealing, well-acted character of growing complexity and likability - culminating a quite hot love scene that made me forget her "looking younger than she is - thin bod..". But 1 minute of Logan and Veronica going at it, plus the intense wordless dance last episode - reminded me Hannah was a promising Farm Team rookie, Kendall was the crusty batgirl shagging every grounder pluncked her way...and on V's side, Duncan was the limp-armed pitcher you wish you could get a ticket refund from the sheer pain of watching him perform. While Veronica-Logan was two best in the League playing in the same game. Again. Finally. KB's Veronica, after all those wasted episodes of uncaring bitchiness, cynicism, no romance or worse, Donut romance - is finally returning to the sexy, hot, feeling, passionate, mind at warp speed, INVOLVED Veronica we liked so much in Season One.

Besides Hannah, I also liked Alona Tal's Meg, and even dead Meg was fun to have her back. Funny how Schram and Tal (who was runner-up to KB for casting Veronica in 2004) will be co-leads in Spelling Prod's new "Split Decision" show.
