I'm not fan of Charleton Heston, either as an actor or as an advocate for the NRA, but do I ever love biblical epics! Zeffirelli's Jesus of Nazareth, Heston's other biblical epic Ben-Hur, and The Ten Commandments are among my absolute favorites. Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments is so over the top, especially the acting of Heston and Anne Baxter, but I have been watching this film for more than 30 years and every time Moses parts the Red Sea I just sit there dumbstruck. For a film made in 1956, that bit of special effects still looks great. The film itself is beatifully shot (it is DeMille, after all) and there are real moments of drama that no copy has ever achieved. The only film to ever come close is the animated feature, The Prince of Egypt. I always enjoy sitting down and watching The Ten Commandments. I just wish NBC would re-air Jesus of Nazareth. I know it's a major committment considering that it ran over several nights, but they always show repeats during Easter Week anyway. I guess showing Deal or No Deal is a better choice, at least for ratings-starved NBC. I always find it interesting that ABC shows a film that basically celebrates the Jewish Passover, yet we never see the likes of Ben-Hur or Jesus of Nazareth, or even my least favorite biblical film, The Passion of the Christ. Of course, these films can all be rented or purchased on DVD with all the extras so maybe it's not worth it, but the The Ten Commandments is always a relative ratings success considering that it's 50-years-old.

This article and many more got their stories completely wrong - Bice was not scheduled as a guest but he was a scheduled snark... Just FYI

I watched The Henry Rollins Show tonight at 10pm. I thoroughly enjoyed it and never even heard of it before. Thanks for the heads up, I will Tivo from now on.
