Who wants to be a mistress of the dark?

ElviraElvira (aka Cassandra Peterson) is teaming up with the producers of American Idol and The Weakest Link to create a reality show where they will find someone to take over the role of Elvira on TV, in movies, and personal appearances.

This could actually be great. Can you imagine the people showing up for auditions? People dressed like Elvira and Dracula and Frankenstein and superheroes and zombies. People who scare you, and you're not quite sure what they'll do. Actually, it sounds a lot like the American Idol auditions.

I also got a glimpse of Ms. Peterson at I-COn 25 out on Long Island. She's actually much prettier in her "normal" get up as she is in her Elvira outfit. And hey, come on. You GOTTA have a sense of humor if you're going to be Elvira.

While the show sounds interesting, I'd rather just see the character die a peaceful death rather than be flogged to death for some reality show. There should be only one Elvira, and Ms. Peterson should be it.

Elvira has always been and still is great fun. It wasn't a serious show so get a grip. If you have anything to grip ;)
I'm going to watch the show just to see what crawls out of the dark corners of America. How many catagories will there be? One for women, one for drag queens, one for people that aren't allowed at Gwar concerts because their too strange?
Elvira is the only Dark Mistress that I rate with Dogwitch!

I remember Cassandra, from her TV shows, and did enjoy them so much. I ill looking forward to seeing that show as well... Jane "get a life" !!!

As far as us dark humor and horror movie fans go, Elvira is/was as sexy as a female can get once you got over the airhead personna. I still have a full-sized cutout of her hawking Coors Light, a book full of pics she's posed for and personal articles of the real-life Cassandra Peterson. I can only hope her replacement is anywhere near as good as she was. Thanks for the fun Elvira. I only have neck for you.

Fabulous idea. One I would try to watch every night it is on. Elvira is the funniest, sexiest, palest badass on the block. I loved Mistress of the Night. Her movie was funny as he!! My guess is it is about time they renewed the show. Hate to see her go, but glad to see there will be a newer version.
