Tale Spin and Darkwing Duck coming to DVD

by Adam Finley, posted Apr 19th 2006 3:36PM
darkwing duckIn August, two of my favorite after school cartoons from my middle school days will be coming out on DVD. Darkwing Duck, a sorta spin-off of Duck Tales which focused on an undercover crime-fighting duck who fought a menagerie of villains a la Dick Tracy, is tentatively set for an August 29 release. In addition, Tale Spin, which took some of the characters from The Jungle Book and made them part of a global delivery service led by Baloo the Bear, will also be released in late August, though we don't know what the exact release date of that will be, either. Actually, I'm not sure how much I ever really got into Tale Spin, I think it was just part of the block of shows I watched. I loved Darkwing Duck, however, and always found it to be quite clever.

I sure hope that they dont skip the pilot episodes of Talespin like they did with Chip n Dale and the Ducktales DVD sets.

And may there soon be gummi bears on DVD!

I always liked the theme song of darkwing duck, as well as duck tales.

I once dated someone with the initials D.W. I think we broke up after the billionth time I said, "When there's trouble y'all call Dee Dubya".

I have all of Tale Spin on my PC in DivX format,
courtesy bittorrent. It was great.

I'd get either show, but I know I will get neither. Disney's screwed up all the Disney Afternoon shows. Ducktales and Chip and Dale were missing the first five episodes that made up the beginning of the show (the "movies"). Goof Troop and Quack Pack came out in sickly
three episode sets. I bet they screw the pooch again.

Which is a shame. Both shows were great homages to different eras. Talespin was all about the 30s and 40, whereas Darkwing Duck was about 50s/60s B-pulp movies.

The Gummi Bears was my favorite!! I never really liked Tale Spin or Darkwing Duck (not that that stopped me from watching those shows).

Really?

I always loved Tale Spin but hated Darkwing Duck. Something about him always irked me. Like he was a half-assed Inspector Gadget.

I'll take Tale Spin. I'd adore Ducktails. I'd even take Gummi Bears and Goof Troop.
