CSI: NY - Run Silent, Run Deep

CSI:
NY; CBS; Gary Sinise; Melina Kanakaredes(S02E20) For the longest time all I did was complain about this show, but it was all out of love. I was just so frustrated about how flat the characters were. Well I suppose you get what you wish for, because Wednesday's episode gave us plenty to digest about Danny and Stella.

The first few minutes gave us something this show rarely depicts: one of the characters actually doing something other than their job. We got a nice look at Stella's new boyfriend's apartment, and yes, they were getting their freak on. In the meantime, Mac and Hawkes were digging up the end-zone at The Meadowlands. I'm sure you can figure out what was buried there.

The buried guy was whacked by a New Jersey gang called the Tanglewood Boys. Turns out Danny's older brother Louie (who he hadn't spoken with since this episode), was a member and Danny was unfortunately hanging around with them the night the murder took place. A cigarette butt with Danny's DNA was recovered from the end-zone grave... but Danny wasn't there. So he's put on some sort of minimal duty until the case is closed. Unless something breaks though, all the evidence points to him so things weren't looking too good for Messer.

Danny's brother came through for him though. He wired himself and got the guy who did it to confess. For whatever reason though, Louie got the crap kicked out of him... I don't think they explained why. When the cops found him, the tape was recovered and Danny's name was cleared. As far as the cigarette but goes, Louie picked up a cigarette that Danny flicked on the ground. While he was helping to bury the body, it fell from behind his ear into the dirt. Funny how something so small could have possibly gotten Danny convicted of murder had his brother not done what he did. The only thing that bothered me about this was how in the hell did they get into the Meadowlands in the middle of the night to bury a body without anyone noticing? Don't they have security guards?

The case Stella handled wasn't anything special. Hookers, dead bankers, and knives. The usual. What got interesting was her love life. Seems like things were going well. The new guy even made her a sculpture based on a Peruvian word "aresanob." He said he researched it on the internet. So when Stella got home, she decided to as well. Internet searches gave her nothing on the word "aresanob." But it seems familiar, doesn't it? Well it should. "Aresanob" is Stella's last name (Bonasera) backwards. So she checked out www.aresanob.com and got plenty to see: her and the new guy getting it on. So while she's busy putting sexual deviants in jail, she's been sleeping with one all along. Check out that site and after the Stella sex tape, there's an extended preview for next week's episode. Looks pretty insane, I'm looking forward to it.
