ABC to launch Lost web game next week

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 24th 2006 2:59PM
LostOh God, as if the TV show wasn't maddening enough, now the people behind Lost are about to launch a big interactive web game to keep us entertained when the show is gone through the summer (and, well, every other week during the TV season, it seems).

Not many details yet, except that it will be called "The Lost Experience" and will feature a storyline that's not on the show. It launches May 2 in the UK and May 3 in the US. Not sure how something "launches" two different days on the web, but it sounds like fun, because clues will vary by continent.

So who's gonna play?

It launches on two different days because the initial "Rabbit Hole" into the game involves a fake advertisement that will be broadcast in the commercial break. As Lost Season 2 starts in the UK on May 2, whilst the next new Lost episode in the USA is May 3, it makes sense to do it that way. The fake broadcast will contain a clue to a toll-free number apparently.

The UK is 5 to 6 hours ahead (timezone-wise) from the US East Coast.
Also, the second season starts on the 2nd in the UK, and the next new episode for the US is the 3rd. I think it's just practical to have the launch dates set up like that.
Are you guys (Super Awesome Happy TV Squad) going to cover this over the summer?

I wonder if the UK's launch date has anything to do with the fact that season two begins on May 2nd here.
