American Idol: America gets it right

by Anna Johns, posted Apr 27th 2006 12:32AM
american idol logoAh, man. I thought I'd be really glad to see Kellie go, but she's so sweet and innocent that I felt really bad for her when she got voted off. But, America doesn't need any more dumb blonde singers (although, Britney doesn't seem to be doing much lately, so maybe there is an opening). Hopefully Kellie gets some professional help with her voice, because she was the amateur of amateurs in this bunch of six.

When Ryan split the final six into three groups of two, we learned that Chris and Katherine received the most votes this week. I wouldn't be surprised if those two battled it out in the final two. I think they're evenly matched-- with personality and vocal ability. Next week, Taylor, Elliott, and Paris are all in extreme danger of being sent home.

On a side note, wasn't Andrea Bocelli spectacular? The man's voice is like butter.

Kellie was the star of her own television show for a solid three months with a viewing audience of roughly 30 million viewers....How many actors in the TV field can lay claim to that....That exposure is worth a lot of money and will surely propel Kellie onward and upward...When a new singer comes out they first have to establish a fan base in order to sell their ware...Kellie already has that fan base established from time spent on Idol....She can now sign her own contract and get away from Idol....Do I see a rainbow up ahead.....

Okay, did anyone happy to catch what the musical theme will be for next week? I don't think I caught it, but then I really don't think they announced it. To tell you the truth, this past week's theme was kinda lousy, sure that guy can sing, but they both seemed like they didnt give a true concern for the singers, It seemed like they cared more about giving themselves their own plugs....(correct me if I'm wrong but...) They just didnt seem to have the patience to work with the Idols. Nope, lets bring on someone more memorable. I've heard of this singer, but he's no real biggee and felt that they could have chosen someone more caring that actually WANTED to work to help and not to benifit their own careers so to speak. For example Rod Stewart and Barry Manilow and Queen REALLY did great and were truly sincere in wanting to give the gang the help and pointers. Anyone agree with me? GO TAYLOR!!

Katherine is my favorite to win..in my opinion she has the "It" factor..Talent and looks plus personality..She's a pro and she knows how to work the cameras to her advantage.. Next to go..Paris..Elliot, Chris and Taylor are all equally good so Im not sure who will take 2nd...Kimo

I didn't think anyone was being that negative or mean against Kellie - I think everyone just has their opinions and I think it's so interesting how we all see things differently.

Kellie was good, but it WAS time for her to go last night.

I think it's so controversial, because REALLY, do ANY of these final FIVE have it ALL - No,,, they all have SOME. I really think the upcoming performances are what is going to make the difference.

They ALL better step it up a notch and sing and perform like there in no tomorrow - If not,,, that means they don't care, so why should I??

No matter if I liked a person or not, I always feel bad when they leave. But, hey that's part of the show.

I Think the bet should be on Paris then Elliot Then my favorite, Taylor, then the winner will be Chris with Katharine at a very close second.

Thank God Kellie is gone! Justice has finally been served for all! I guess people have finally come to their senses. She will do great singing at local bars & state & county fairs. On the last song she "tried" to sing, she has that June Carter Cash sound - without June's smarts though. I say the next to go is Paris or Elliot, depending on next week's performances. Both of them are on the fence.

Bye-bye Pickler, boo hoo I'm gonna miss ya. Despite what all your many critics say you can probably sing some country, sashay around and do OK. And I'm glad I didn't put my money down a few weeks ago on the 800-1 odds of Kellie and Kat being the final two -- but I sure thought about it.

The sharply divided opinions on Elliot continue to be interesting. Some folks just love this guy. Just as many others can't stand him, and I'm in that group. What a slug.

I'm still in Kat's corner, will be rooting for her to win and am looking forward to her next performance. But not looking forward to hearing Chris and Taylor again, been there done that, nothing new to see, nothing compelling to get excited about. But they have their supporters so I guess Paris is on the bubble.

I love Chris, and he may win this thing but his album would be too raucous for my taste. I mean the one after the AI contract album. Taylor is my cup of tea...
