(S01E05) Oh snap! The heist is on and stuff is not going the way it was planned. However, with all the set-backs, Nick handled things surprisingly well. He even let Jack pray for the team before they took off for the airport. That seemed like a pretty big deal, because after what happened to Wanda, Nick does not seem like the religious type.
Random side note. I didn't realize Jack's nick-name was Bump. This episode, more than others, Nick kept calling him Bump and for a while I had no idea who he was talking about. I had to check out the Thief website in the middle of the show to figure that one out. Guess I need to start paying attention more and it's a good thing I did, because this episode was jam-packed.
Gabo actually pulled out of his initial role in the heist. It was supposed to be him and Jack on the plane. But he couldn't stand being in that tiny meal cart for so long. So Nick took his place and that left Gabo to search for Tammi (who ran away with her boyfriend).
At this point, things got out of hand. Gabo checked out Nick's place to look for Tammi but the Chinese were there instead. We were lead to believe that Gabo was killed because Vincent gave Nick a call after he left the house. They never showed us Gabo's body and then he showed up with Elmo at the end. That part confused me. Why did Vincent call Nick and lie about having shot and killed Gabo? It didn't make sense to me.
Detective Hayes had a fairly large role in this episode. Indictments are being handed down (I'm still not sure what he did, but it's not good) and he needs cash right now. In another part that left me asking questions, he was able to track down Nick at his place. I knew Hayes had dirt on Jack, but how did he find out about everyone else? Now this ended up tying in with the Chinese. The younger of the two (his name escapes me) told his uncle (who I think is the guy in charge) about Vincent's apprehension to killing people and his Parkinson's. Vincent somehow found out that he was being ratted out, so when the two of them bumped into Hayes at Nick's garage... Vincent shot Hayes and the younger nephew. It was incredible. I really did not see that coming. Now, based on the previews for next week, I'm not so sure that Vincent is going to play a role at all. I feel like he might still come after Nick if only to prove his worth.
The problem that's still up in the air, is how ambitious is the Federal agent that was on the plane? I think he is very dedicated to the job. I mean, look how much he flipped out after Nick jammed the two galley elevators and the flight attendants couldn't get to the food. So Nick and the guys have gotten away with the money, but the government is going to be right behind them when they determine how it was taken.
Nick is going to have to deal with that next week in the season finale. He'll have to weigh his desire to run away with the money or stay and try and raise Tammi. I'm thinking he picks his step-daughter. Nick's not a bad guy. He's a good guy who does bad things. Oh and I almost forgot. The thing I'm looking for is what happens when the agent in charge of the money (he's the husband of the woman Gabo was sleeping with) finds out who Gabo is and what he did. That could be quite the confrontation.
