Desperate Housewives top producer walks out

desperate housewives logoIt's a rough spring for the cast and crew of Desperate Housewives. Last week, Teri Hatcher suffered an eye injury when a light bulb burst. And now, word that one of the show's top producers walked off the set. The Hollywood Reporter (via Reuters) says that Tom Spezialy, executive producer and show runner, left the show on Friday following "an unspecified falling out." Spezialy didn't quit but THR says he may be replaced next season.

I love Desperate Housewives but I am just sick to death of all the reruns and the shows that reiterate what's already happened. Are these actors getting paid so much that the public can't watch new episodes? I'm absolutely fed up with it. The same thing is happening on Lost. Face it, the shows will lose the audience because what's the point? If you watch all the time, you've already seen the episodes. Frankly, it's lame and they're gonna lose audience.

No, Desperate Housewives IS A SINKING SHIP.

The show has a high burnout rate. If there was a tank of sharks on Wysteria Lane, one of the women would have already been revving up a motorcycle.

(My definition of "burnout": Plot lines that seems captivating, but need wrapping up, replaced by plotlines that are either uninteresting or that make you go "WTF?")

I'm guessing he's got a deal to run another show on another network that's already picked up for series.

Housewives isn't exactly a sinking ship, but it's definitely not having a great sophomore year.
