The Apprentice: Blow Out
(S05E10) In Monday's fun-filled episode of The
Apprentice, the Scooby gangs oversee the grand openings of two different hair salons. The title of the episode is
'Blow Out'. The Bravo cable network has a reality show named Blow Out, which focuses on the antics of a
Hollywood hair salon and its owner. Bravo is owned by Universal, which also runs NBC.
Hmm. I smell network synergy.
Oh, before we begin the bloodletting I wanted to mention a few things that we learned this episode:
- Everyone thinks that Lee is a born politician;
- Trump thinks Tarek is a schmuck (but we all knew that already);
- For the millionth time, that's Donald Trump's real friggin' hair!
And now, the jello mold we call The Apprentice.
The love, sweet love that each team felt last episode quickly evaporated during this task. Within Synergy, Sean had suddenly become the outcast as he sided with former member Andrea (or, as Allie called it, 'the dark side') in the boardroom. Allie and Roxanne had a target painted on his back for this new task: one false move and he was gone. On the other hand, Tammy, who was project leader this week, was giving him the benefit of the doubt. Possibly due to the fact that she and Sean had a little mutual crush on each other. Meanwhile, as Charmaine returned to the project leader helm, she felt like another member of her team as members Tarek and Lee tried to overrule her decisions of mutual consent.
Moving on to the actual grand opening of each salon... Synergy brought people in by using some of the skills that they've used to success in previous tasks. This included passing out information cards the night before (during Tammy and Sean's 'date') and talking to the prospective customers ahead of time. They also provided discounts for hair care products and cuts. Gold Rush attached flyers to cars in a parking lot a mile-and-a-half away from the shopping center where the hair salon was located and Charmaine got her hair done to see how the process worked. Guess who won? Synergy's reward this round was to compose a song with the famous Burt Bacharach.
In the boardroom it was all Charmaine and Tarek, and not in a good way. These two would not shut up to let anyone else get in a word edgewise. Charmaine stated that she was Tarek's biggest fan after he won his first task. You couldn't tell that from what went on in front of Trump, Carolyn and Bill. It sounded like David and Maddie arguing on an episode of Moonlighting. When the dust cleared, Trump said that Charmaine did not lead well, and she was fired. But, there's more. He also said that Tarek was unleadable and he too was fired. The best scene of the night was in the taxi as Tarek and Charmaine headed home. There weren't any confessions in that taxi cab.
So ends another exciting chapter of The Apprentice. We're down to six now and it looks like it's going to be boys versus girls next week according to the promos. And, they head to my alma mater, Rutgers University, to deal with what looks like Homecoming football game crowds. See you then.
