Old Christine: Ritchie Has Two Mommies

I like the call and leave yourself a voicemail bit, it's a shame they did away with it.

This show was DEFINITELY out of order and definitely not the strongest, but I can see why CBS did it this way. Scuttle the pilot (which is always an odd and somewhat disjointed episode -- especially given that it's filmed many months before the next ep) in a early timeslot followed by the strongest episode with Sad Dad in the true series premiere slot. Follow that up with a 3 episode Burton arc the first of which stars Wanda Sykes, who clearly has marquee value to help build audience. Naturally, you can't really split the arc up as that would really strand viewers. Next comes the best episode so far, "The Other F Word", which I believe reignited some ratings that had begun to sag. Follow that with two strong episodes that stand well on their own which leaves us with this episode, which was nice, but completely out of place.

At any rate, the ratings are getting better and people are at least talking about the show, so their gamble with potentially confusing viewers appears to be paying off in the ratings. I really like the show and hope it gets picked up for a full season in the fall, which would guarantee that none of these "out of order" shenanigans will happen next year.

It sure feels like a 2nd episode, especially since the "call yourself and leave voicemail" bit was in the first episode and never returned, it was not smooth at all.

I really like this show, but your right it wasnt the best one. This show has got better every week, so to go backwards to when they werent quite there yet is silly. Also, the first ten minutes of the episode was ruined for me, because I'm sitting there going, "I know they already met, am I losing my mind!"
