Angered playwright gets call from Leno

by Adam Finley, posted May 4th 2006 6:02PM

jeff whittyAs I mentioned previously, playwright Jeff Whitty took offense to what he considered Jay Leno's less-than-enlightening attitude towards gays and gay culture, and penned a letter to the late night comedian to let his feelings be known. Apparently Whitty wasn't quite expecting the response his letter would stir up. Some people agreed with his assessments, while others, like gay comedian Jim David (who you should check out if you've never seen him before, because he's hilariously dead pan in his mockery of everyone) feel Whitty needs to just lighten the heck up. Probably the coolest thing to come out of this is that Leno actually contacted Whitty by phone, which, according to Whitty, didn't necessarily solve any issues, but was a nice gesture, regardless.

Apparently this phone call happened on April 24th and I read all about it during the original post you made on the subject. I don't blame you Adam, but I would have really liked a more relevant/current article that was not so inviting of hateful comments.

Vicki, do you drive an SUV? God created Adam to tend to the Garden of Eden and live in harmony with the earth. Whenever I see a lone passenger in a 2 ton vehicle I think to myself, "Hate the sin, not the sinner".

"God made us all and he made us all in his image and perfect."

Humans are riddled with genetic defects. We're far from perfect. Next you'll be telling us that all men were created equal.

Its despisable to hear supposedly christian folks talk of others in such a way. God made us all and he made us all in his image and perfect.
Gays do not chose their position, they are born the way they are. time and science will prove this out eventually and the Holier than thou will be put in their place.

Leno also said that Christians should read their Bible and learn what it says -- Love and Tolerance. I wish I knew what Bible is Leno reading? I read the King James Version and, trust me, our God is not love and warm fuzzies. If Leno cracked the book, he'd know that. And yes, it does say, in more than one book, that homosexuality is an abomination. It also says we are to love the sinner, but hate the sin. Not 'love' it and see it as 'acceptable' to our God. And tolerance is an attribute that Gollywood threw at us, not God.
