24 movie will be filmed in London

by Bob Sassone, posted May 6th 2006 10:53AM
Kiefer SutherlandKiefer Sutherland reveals in a BBC interview that the 24 movie, long rumored and now official, will be filmed in London. There's no definite release date for the movie, but they haven't started to film it yet.

I can never get used to Britain calling a season of a TV show a "series," as in "Sutherland has starred in the Fox show for five series." I mean, what do they call a TV series? It reminds me of that scene in Newsradio, where Matthew tells Bill that in Britain, a flashlight is called a torch, and Bill asks, "what do they call a torch?"

Using Stella's logic about 24 perhaps George Bush should follow similar logic and restrict himself to bombing domestic US targets? Or is it more logical to assume that the bulk of threats to the US would come from overseas and therefore ridiculous for a Counter Terrorism Unit NOT to find itself operating outside of it's borders at some point given the size and scale of the adventures in such a television series. Perhaps Stella would prefer it even more if the action were confined to her 'back yard'.

P.S. In the UK we regard a season as being Summer, Spring, Autumn, Winter. Unless 24 is limited to a 13 week run and co-incides with one of these seasons it makes considerably less sense to call a consecutive series of episodes a season rather than a series. We invented the language after all so you'll have to give us the 'benefit of the doubt' on this one!

Hey All, and thanks for a good laugh (i liked the dictionary.com one)
I am british, and Jack Bauer has swayed me away from the motion of being an antheist. I would just like to ask how the set being changed could have an effect on the quality of the program? surely not. It all about the wirters, the actors and JACK BAUER
JACKS GOING TO BE IN IT STILL

we've done a 24 parody over at www.destructionproductions.co.uk with characters crack shmauer and stony almeida saving the world, worth a watch!

JACK BAUERS GOING TO BE IN IT!

A change of scenery would be good, as to where it is filmed doesn't really matter either as long as the end results are good.

PS! Thank you all for the laughter. I've got a good chuckle.

Stella,
1. If by some slim chance Kiefer Sutherland should read your petition, he would laugh himself sick. It is a ridiculous piece of poor spelling and grammar, cynicism and bigotry.
2. If, as you proclaim, you are Kiefer's #1 fan, I would hate to hear what his worst enemy has to say. Grow up!
I recently became a 24 fan in a big way. The show is sensational and I can't wait to see the movie. As for you, you're just going to miss out on a real treat!

Well I do think some of you are behaving badly on this broad calling me names, and its all about the character he portrays I couldn’t care less if he were born in China! What tempers you all have take a chill pill or something.

On the Series/Season thing its more due to the fact that in england we dont pay any attention to the schedulers "seasons" of programming... so we just refer to them as they come in series...
Surely infact a series is a more logical word to describe one set of a serial...
On the anti-british sentiment being expressed 24 would probably not exist if it wasnt for the BBC (BRITISH being the first B) and the BRITISH public making the show into a cult hit it probably wouldnt ever have been a big thing over with you guys...

"Lets be honest, if Keifer saw your comments Stella, he would probably be glad if you did not go to see the film."

Haha, no kidding eh.

Dear Stella, I am pretty aware of the definition of the word 'boycott'. Guess what? The act of boycotting is a protest! To a lesser extent, similar to going on a hunger strike. Do you get the sarcasm of my previous post now, or would you like a drawing?

By the way, since dictionary.com can't fix your grammar as well as giving you word definitions, here's how your sentence would sound like in correct english:
"All right. Let me give you the definition of the word 'boycott', you moron! It's the act of refusing to deal with, or buy from, in order to protest.
If you don't know what a moron is, it's a stupid person'. Much like yourself."

P.s.: Before you ask, muffin, I am going to go ahead and say that the offer to draw a picture to explain something to you was sarcasm too.

Jus wanted to say that Stella is absolutely ridiculous and on the brink of racist! Its people like you that give the great nation of America a bad name.

I think it is brilliant that the movie will be filmed here in London, (i live in Camden, London) as it will bring a whole new angle to the storyline. For those people who want it to be in LA (ie Stella) you must realise that a change of location can only be a good thing for a show that has had 5 series set in the same place. Lets be honest, if Keifer saw your comments Stella, he would probably be glad if you did not go to see the film.

Stella - the whole point of shooting a 24 Movie as Kiefer explained in his BBC interview was to allow Jack Bauer the freedom to travel without time restrictions. He can't do that in real-time format the series is done.
The (approx 2 hour) movie will cover a whole 24hours.
Part of the film will be shot in London - and also in other parts of Europe.
