Big Brother UK goes Wonka

by Annie Wu, posted May 7th 2006 2:08PM
Big BrotherAs a new, exciting way to find new contestants and freak out the public at the same time, Big Brother UK is going to hide golden tickets in 100 Kit-Kat bars to be distributed to 40,000 stores. Out of the 100 finalists that find tickets, one Charlie Bucket will be randomly chosen to be a cast member on Big Brother 7 (after a thorough background check, of course... because a serial killer on the show would set the bar too high for future seasons). This is really going to backfire on them if they get some middle-aged housewife that's completely unwilling to get naked on-camera.

I personally think this idea has more chance of dereasing the public's interest in big brother, what if it's a young child who buys the chocolate bar? It would only then be suggested that the mother enters the house, and it's quite unlikely that the mother would provide enough entertainment for the viewers.
Or what about a poor old pensioner who only popped to the shop to get a sugar boost for his diabetes?
I can understand that there may be a oppurtunity to find an excellently entertaining candidate, but the Kit-Kat idea, I think, is not a good one.
