Stewart, Colbert, Ailes among most influential in media

by Bob Sassone, posted May 8th 2006 6:28PM
Jon StewartAccording to New York mag anyway. Their list of The Most Influential People In Media includes Daily Show host Jon Stewart, Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert (along with Daily Show producer/writer Ben Karlin), and FOX News Channel Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes. Katie Couric is on the list too, as she prepares to take over the CBS Evening News in September.

So, who's missing from this list? There's no one from TV Squad on the list, which I'm sure is just a typo.

Actually, the article was about the most influential New Yorkers. As in people who live in New York and influence New York. I don't think the rest of America gives a crap about Mike Bloomberg or Larry Gagosian who were also on the list.

Media people always say this about Stewart, but the show's ratings just don't bear it out.

This is about media folks and the bubble they live in. They think that because all the NYC media folks love and watch Jon, the rest of the world must be feeling the same way.
