(S01E21) Holy crap, this show is incredible. This episode had the potential to be the season finale the way it ended... I can't believe what the hybrids are up to. But we still get one more episode next week and I can't wait. With Alias, Lost, and Invasion, ABC has one hell of a Wednesday night line-up right now. Too bad we're only getting it for little while longer.

Last week we left Tom and Russell as they headed back into Homestead to try and stop Szura's plan... whatever it was. Now we know. Using the military uniforms and guns that Tom supplied Szura with, the hybrids are posing as National Guard. They're driving around, picking people up, and dropping them off at this (deserted?) military base. As the hurricane keeps knocking trees down and blocking off roads, Mariel, Larkin, and the kids end up with nowhere to go. Until one of the hybrid patrols drives up. They hop in the back of the truck but by the time Mariel realizes what's going on (I guess they all have some kind of "hybrid sense"), it's too late.

Tom and Russell find one of the patrols too and Tom kills the driver. Using the radio in the truck, they find out where the drop-off point is and the two of them head out there. Meanwhile, Louis and a couple of the other deputies have Dave at gunpoint demanding to know where Tom is. Louis eventually helps Dave take down the other two deputies though.

At the base, Mariel is separated from her family and Szura takes her upstairs to the, I dunno, alien maternity ward? There are dozens of pregnant women and they're all ready to give birth to who knows what. Whatever it is, it can rip through the mother's stomach if it needs to. Remember Christina? Mariel isn't sure what to do but then Russell shows up (he was captured). I found it odd that Szura left him with Mariel. Why wouldn't he throw Russell in with the rest of the non-hybrids?

Now for the biggest part of this episode, I thought the hybrids were going to kill everyone so they had no resistance. Tom even used the word genocide. And they were killing them... just not what I expected. As the rains continued to fall, the "lights" returned. The orangey alien creatures were falling everywhere. The hybrids opened the big doors to the holding bay and then proceeded to push everyone out into the storm. Their plan was to have everyone transformed. That's freaky stuff. But that's how it ended.

Mariel and Russell need to figure out the pregnancy crisis. Larkin, Jesse, and Rose are in with the group being pushed outside. Tom and Kira are figuring out how to kill the power for the complex. And so far... Szura's plan is working perfectly. Next week in the finale, we'll see if it all falls apart.
