Blaine's next stunt: lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

by Bob Sassone, posted May 15th 2006 5:37PM
David BlaineFor his next stunt, magician/showman David Blaine plans to live among the wild beasts in the jungle.

Not a zoo, mind you, but a real, honest to goodness jungle, with wild, dangerous animals. He wants to be the next Tarzan, though several experts are advising him against him. Says zoologist Dave Salmoni of Animal Planet:

"I'd be amazed if he lasted a week in a place like the Sunderbunds ... after just 24 hours, chances are excellent that Blaine would run across a Bengal tiger - and it would eat him."

But something tells me that would be good ratings for ABC.

Hey, quit trying to talk him out of it! Somebody needs to shut those experts up. We must encourage him in this. Do it, David! Do it!

The one obstacle that David Blaine will likely never be able to overcome - his fear of irrelevance. With that in mind, and since his mantra is doing something to overcome his fears, he should move to some remote location where no one knows David Blaine, and simply live there for 1 year, and do nothing to attract any attention whatsoever. My guess is that he will not be able to last the year. If he does, that will be a real accomplishment for him.

At least GOB was funny.

Surely his behaviour is enough to have him committed? Frankly I think we Brits had the right idea when he was in that box - pelt him with food and call him the nut he quite clearly is.

David Blaine is the worst thing to happen to magic since GOB.
