Prison Break breaks from Chicago

prison breakThe first season of Prison Break was filmed in Chicago at the Joliet Correctional Center, as well as various locations around the city. However, come next season, the show will no longer be taped in Chicago. The producers state that it has nothing to do with the city itself, but that the story calls for the move. I suppose, given the name of the series, that they would have to move to locations beyond the prison at some point. Officials in Chicago were aware of this, but there was hope that at least part of the second season would still be done in the Windy City. As it turns out, Chicago won't be part of the second season at all.

The season finale of Prison Break airs tonight at 8 p.m.

Brad, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Prison Break takes place at the fictional Fox River State Penitentiary. So it happens to be filmed at the now-empty Joliet Correctional Center, but y'know what? I still watch Battlestar Galactica even though there aren't any real Cylons in Vancouver where the Caprica scenes are filmed.

Not that it matters here in Chicago. The show was ruined for me when the plot involved prisoners at Joliet when there are none. I despised it from then on.

Personally, good riddance.

In fact, the second season is going to be filmed in Dallas. The local press is making a big deal about it.
