Does anyone still care about American Idol?

while I realize that only a very small percentage of the individuals that watch AI every week actually "post" on this blog, I really wonder if these type of forums produce more harm than good.

sure they justify the blogs existence and it helps AOL sell monthly memberships, but really, it seems to promote more divisivness among people than it contributes to an informed discussion.

honestly, I'd hate to be the winner of this year's AI. Why? these boards have become nothing more than an arena for slamming the different vocal contestants and name calling. great, I suppose for 14 year olds, but it's amazing how many adults participate in lowering the bounds of civility.

If you're looking for a good voice vote for Kat,and of course Chris who will soon show up in another band.
While Elliott can sing, he is not star quality.
Do you remember Fantasia sing until the whole audience was in tears from emotion? That is star quality! Kat came close with her 'Over the rainbow'. Give her time and she will be there. Taylor won't ever - he will always be a clown. Imitating Joe Cocker - what a laugh! He doesn't come near the tips of Cocker's toes.

I think if Katherine doesn't go home tonight I'll probably never watch this show again. She has made more mistakes than any of the other contestants and has the nerve to keep coming back and embarrassing herself time after time. Please send her home so she can mature and grow up a little bit!!!!!!!

As a lifetime member of the Soul Patrol, I've come to the conclusion that people either "get" Taylor or they don't. Personally, I can't get enough of him!

If there weren't so many people who prefer glitz with no substance over sincerity and genuineness, I think a lot more people would "get" Taylor, and Kat (if you claim to be her fan, Maureen H, spell her name right for pete's sake) would have been voted off weeks ago.

Chris is definitely better off without American Idol. If we would have won, he would have been stuck under that American Idol contract and been a solo artist. He needs a band to back him up and he'll succeed.

As for Taylor, he's certainly an entertainer. American Idol? I'm not so sure.

Elliot has a great voice. American Idol? Not quite.

Katharine has such an amazing voice, she's gorgeous, and she has the personality. I'm realy anxious to see how tonights voting goes.

Whoever wins, they will do great. As for those who don't win, they will still do great... don't you remember Clay Aiken? No one thought he had the potential to be as great as he is. American Idol keeps bringing us the unexpected and we keep watching. They must be doing something right!

I'm glad chris is gone,Taylors my pick.Chris thought he was going to win and that was he's down fall.Nothing is ever for sure in life. The voters decided, so get over it.

The poster who said that Taylor CANNOT sell records or sustain a career is totally off-base. I would venture to say that person is someone who is stuck in a one genre mindset. Taylor is the only AI contestant of ANY year that I can honestly say I WOULD go out of my way to see and buy records from. He LOVES music and would do it no matter what. Kat is cut from the same boring cloth as about a thousand other female singers and Elliott, while he has come far, has way too far to go to be an entertainer. Taylor's voice is distinctive. This show is about more than just a voice. It is about the ability to entertain people on stage for more than just one or two songs. Taylor has more than proven to have that ability.

I've been done with AI since, maybe, season 2. That whole Ruben chant really turned me off. I rooted for Fantasia next season, but I seldom watched. I couldn't tell you who performed this year, but I know Ann Nesbey's granddaughter was in there, somewhere.
