Conan O'Brien to host Emmys

by Annie Wu, posted May 20th 2006 12:39PM
Conan O'BrienLate night god Conan O'Brien has been chosen to emcee the Emmy Awards in August. O'Brien's my favorite out of the late night talk show guys (forget Leno, Letterman, Ferguson, and Daly... if he even counts), so I have high hopes for his performance. At worst, he'll get a little too immature with his jokes, but I don't expect anything controversial.

He took the Emmy-hosting gig back in 2004, as well. I don't think I watched that year. To those of you that watched him in 2004, did he do well?

I think conan is an great choice to host. Now if the selection committee will go ahead and nominate the excellence that is Battlestar Galactica for Best Dramatic Series I will be sure to tune in....

I will not watch the Emmy's since Conan O'Brien is the scheduled host. He is not funny, makes me nervous to watch his antics and his attempt at humour is juvenile and the delivery off. Besides, his facial expressions are at best scary. Furthermore, I will no longer watch The Tonight Show when he attempts to take over when Jay Leno leaves.

I remember the opening bit, pre-taped, was pretty funny - he woke up late to host the ceremony because he was staying with Ozzie Osbourne and his family (and the typical chaos reigned).

Then he got to the wrong studio and found himself on the stage with Bob Barker during the Spin the Wheel segment of 'The Price Is Right'.

It was pretty funny stuff.

And I'll be so embarrassed if it turns out I'm remembering the wrong host......

Craig doesn't have the same pull in Hollywood as does *Conan*

I thought Conan did a decent job the last time he hosted. John Stewart would be better for the Emmy's instead of the Oscar's.

I don't think Conan has much harisma like Leno, for example, does. I prefer Leno, but no one will listen me :(.
Albeit Conan is not bad for this place

I have become a big fan of the standup monologues of Craig Ferguson over the last several months. Craig doesn't have the same pull in Hollywood as does Craig, but I'm not in the business. From strictly a viewer standpoint, Craig is easier and funnier to watch.

That said, I do applaud Conan's political service to the Finnish nation.

Yes, he was excellent! I recorded it and kept it just for the bits he did between the presenters. He did some funny stuff with Garry Shandling and Brad Pitt that year. I don't think I've enjoyed them as much since then. This is great news. Don't miss this!
