DeLay supporters think Stephen Colbert is on their side

by Anna Johns, posted May 25th 2006 8:07AM
tom delay; stephen colbert; robert greenwaldSarcasm is lost on some people. The people who run the Defend DeLay website and legal defense fund have featured an interview from The Colbert Report with Robert Greenwald, the director of the new documentary called The Big Buy: How Tom DeLay Stole Congress. In a recent e-mail posted on ThinkProgress.com, the Defend DeLay folks directed supporters to watch a clip of The Colbert Report, saying "Colbert Cracks the Story on Real Motivations Behind Movie." The clip is of Colbert interviewing Greenwald in Colbert's typical in-your-face fashion, asking him questions like, "Who hates America more: you or Michael Moore?"

Apparently these guys didn't see his roast of President Bush.

One star for Aaron, for a spot-on Stephen Colbert impersonation!

Realist, if you don't like it, don't read it. For others making fun of realist, this is why even though I am of the left, I cringe when people take the elitist attitude and start making fun of people. You are equally ruining America. As for the Colbert clip on a Delay site, this was halarious, although I do think the guy Colbert is interviewing is ridiculous by making Delay's gerrymandering out to be a crime, since everyone does it, Democrat and Republican. He should have focused more on the money trail.

if you read the email is sounds a lot like something Colbert would say too! it really makes me wonder if there are two or three joking teens working on the website who pulled a prank on the DeLay people.

@ Josh Stein

Realist didn't use the word "demagogue". He/she used the word "demagouge". Which, to my knowledge isn't a word. However, it could be an intentional portmanteau of "demagogue" and "gouge" which would probably make it accurately useda s a verb. If it were, in fact, a word. Which it is not.

great article....let's all hold our breath till we see the colbert report parody william jefferson and his freezer full of cash...oh wait..like that'll happen..and rememeber because of delay...Republicans control Texas and The House...Delay may have taken a bullett..but his work will live on..and just you wait till you see how much power his PAC has..he has already predicted that the GOP will gain seats in both houses this election....so it looks like Delay will have the last laugh

oh, realist. chill. it isn't leftist to point out the stupidity of some people. and the whole DeLay scandal is beyond political slant.

keep up the posts anna. with Boston Legal gone for the summer it's good to know someone is still bringing the "leftist" world view.

Right on, realist. I hate it when people who may have different political opinions than mine post entirely factual items on weblogs.

Realist:

1. This is a relevant post about a TV show.

2. Improper use of the word demagogue. Also, "demagogue" is a noun, not a verb. People like you are destroying America.

3. Let's see how sarcasm is lost on people.

Great, yet another enlightened leftist posting by Anna Johns.

Can we stop celebrating people who's sole job/priority is to demagouge people?
