Project Greenlight flick finally has a release date

John GulagerIt's been soooo long since I saw the third season of Bravo's Project Greenlight that I completely forgot that they haven't even released the movie yet. But our friends at Cinematical report that Feast, the horror movie directed by John Gulager and starring Balthazar Getty, Krista Allen, and Navi Rawat, will finally be released on September 22.

The movie's release was held up for many, many months because of various behind the scenes legal wranglings involving Miramax. The film is co-produced by Chris Moore, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon.

I miss "Project Greenlight". I saw seasons 2 and 3, and thought it was one of the best documentaries on filmmaking I'd ever seen. I wasn't the least bit interested in either movie they made, though. They just had great characters (o.k., real people!) and maybe the best editors and producers around, crafting excellent stories out of their footage week to week. I watch no reality television, and I considered PG in its own category--"hip documentary", maybe. It's a shame it's gone.

They should've found a way to make money off of it as a TV show instead of needing to profit from the movie distribution. I still have no interest in seeing "Feast". But I'd be THRILLED if there were another season of "Project Greenlight".
