Jerry Lewis has heart attack

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 14th 2006 12:37AM
Jerry LewisTV and film funny man (and MDA Telethon host) Jerry Lewis had a mild heart attack on Sunday. He also has pneumonia, and even though both things aren't good for a man of 80, doctors say he's going to make a full recovery. He remains in the hospital.

Lewis was supposed to perform live for the first time in five years in July, but that now has been cancelled. He also appeared at a Friar's Club Roast in his honor on Friday night.

I am a big fan of Jerry Lewis and always considered him the funniest comedian. He and the late Dean Martin were tops in my book. I love seeing all his movies with or without Dean. I thought they were a great act together, Dean singing and Jerry clowning. I always looked forwad to seeing him when he was doing the telethon for MD because you could tell he felt a deep compassion for it. When he would sing "I'll Never Walk Alone" I could not hold back the tears as I was too overcome with emotion. I would say to myself but for the grace of God it could be me. Thank you Jerry for caring and get well soon. God Bless you! I wish I had had the privilege to meet you at least once!

I have been a fan of Jerry's since I was a child. He remains one of the true classic comics and an amazing inventor. I have seen him in person and on Broadway. He electrifies a stage with his presence.
Zi gezundt Jerry! Live until 120.

Thanks for the heads up Bob, I've been a fan of his for four decades and I have been fortunate to have met him personally, I'm sure he probably does not remember me, but he cracked me up with his inevitable humorous monologue about my name. I hope that he makes a full recovery, we've lost way too many talented personalities in the past couple of years, I pray to God that we don't lose Jerry.
