Michael Eisner grills Pat Robertson

by Joel Keller, posted Jun 19th 2006 6:10PM
Michael EisnerEvery time I've tuned past Michael Eisner's CNBC show, I've thought the same thing: "As a talk show host, he sure makes a heck of a major studio executive." The former Disney CEO, to put it kindly, didn't conduct the most riveting interviews.

But maybe my opinion of him has changed. According to this New York Post story, Eisner raked televangelist (and self-proclaimed strong-legged) Pat Robertson over the coals during a taping of Eisner's show last week. In particular, Eisner took issue with Robertson's views on gay rights, his call to assasinate Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, and his view on whether or not Jewish people go to heaven. Robertson's PR people sent CNBC an e-mail expressing their disappointment with the interview, which was obtained by the Post.

I'm surprised Eisner didn't challenge Pat to a leg-press-off. But it looks like he made Robertson quite uncomfortable, which is always the sign of a good interview.

God fearing men did walk on the moon.I will never forget the first man who set foot on the Moon read a passage from the scriptures. It was inspiring. In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth. When was the beginning? Six Thousand years ago? I don't think so. God always was. is. and always will be. That is something outside of our experience and point of reference. It is a mystery.

Let me make this quick and simple. I like to get to
the point really fast. JESUS WAS A LIBERAL. In fact, he was the original LIBERAL. He loved and spoke of love for everyone. Pat Robertson hates everyone that doesn't agree with him. (typical Republican) Pat Robertson loves war & killing like his buddy Bush. They claim to be "Christians". I don't think Jesus would be pleased with someone who says "war is good, greed is good, commiting false witness against your brother is good, envy is good,
......the list goes on. If you were a true christian, would you like a leader to stand for these principals ?
I rest my case !

First off, there is much more noise about Jesse Jackson and much more venom spewed about than Pat Robertson. Robertson is not a Christian, but a cunning businesman who converts faith to dollars. Keep in mind this man has TWICE mentioned how great it would be to set a nuclear weapon off in Washington DC.

As for the "true" followers, you are beginning to sound like Osama more and more. Calling your enemies "Godless" and "heathens" and relishing a perfect afterlife after serving Gods will is more than just a coincidence. This is the product of an undisciplined mind, where logic and facts have been replaced with promises and dreams. Your sin is magnified and wrapped in holy justification as a never ending war against the non-believers.

If God is true, if he is real than he will make himself known.

i just want to say i am deeply impressed with the people who have written here who know the TRUTH and are telling the rest of us the way it is. you wouldn't make it as jews, so it's a good thing you aren't. we're TAUGHT to question. we LIKE to question. if we are the "chosen" people, that's why. God knows we'll keep up a thorough dialogue with him. he's never lonely around us. we're also taught to see the gray between the white and black. we're taught to love and continue the tradition of law. plus we're good cooks. matzoh ball soup is a bowl of heaven. so y'all who know the TRUTH keep on knowing it. i don't know the truth. all i know is i love God and he loves me and we get along just fine. he also likes my matzoh ball soup.

If all the preachers in this country had a real job that requires them to do manual labor 40 hours a week I myself would start going to thier church, until then I will speak to GOD everyday in my own heart.Because when you are born unto this earth it was GOD'S will and he will never ever charge you a fee to seek him everyday of your life, because he is within your heart. It is only the weak that pay for redemption. Please excuse my runon sentences.Ren

Michael Eisner has no room to criticize anyone. His "Gay Day" at Disney World must have Walt--who respected traditional family values--turning over in his grave. And the financial shambles Eisner has made out of the Disney organization is inexcusable. Eisner should spend more time trying to be an effective CEO instead of showing his you-know-what on cable television.

I read the comments on the first page and just HAD to respond. I have been through trials in life, and have learned things as I have gotten older. I love people. It just makes me sad to "read" comments from people who are so mislead by the "world". I personally am a Christian, and I have friends that are gay. I believe it is a sin that they chose. But, I don't know anyone who isn't a sinner, SIN IS SIN. As a Christian I make mistakes, but I am learning every day. Pat Robertson has good intensions, he makes mistakes, but his intensions are good.

Ever notice that a beautiful day is said to be created by God and that foul weather (hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.) is/are attributed to an unfortunate force of nature or that dreaded, "mother-nature", herself. Do we conveniently pass the buck or are we predisposed to give religion the benefit of the doubt. Things that make you go...HMMMMMMM.

I just watched the show and your article is extremely exaggerated. This is typical liberal bias in the media today: print or otherwise. The fact is Eisner was respectful with Robertson and the uinlikely pair got along fabulously. Robertson calmly responded to the questions and explained his controversial comments which sounded more about compassion than hate which the liberals like to condemn Pat for.
Eisner shook hands with Pat at the end of his interview because of Pat's proclaimation of being pro-Israel and that Israel will be saved in the end times. It is clear to me the liberal media desperately needed to report an exaggerated and false version of the event and is actually more upset with Eisner because he made a new friend.
