Entourage: Dominated

Entourage - Dominated

(S03E03) I must be slow. Only just now did the wordplay of this episode's title make any sense to me. "Dom"inated. Idiot, right here. Dom would be the goofy looking guy in the middle of the picture above. He's an old buddy from back home in Queens, fresh out of prison, and looking to get reacquainted with his old friends. As one would expect, his return went downhill fast. I honestly wasn't too impressed with this episode. First time that's ever happened with Entourage.

After he shows up (he jimmied the front door lock when no one was home), it seemed pretty clear that Dom's just trying to find some space on Vince's coattails. He even tried to pitch a script that he wrote in prison to Eric. But Dom isn't stupid... well, yeah he is. But he plays right into Vince's guilt. He went to prison after he got pinched with a few joints that belonged to Vince. That wasn't what got him the jail time though. Punching the officer that arrested him took care of that.

It played out like you expected though. Dom started stepping on everyone's toes. Loud sex. Walking around naked. Cooking when Drama is supposed to. Driving when Turtle is supposed to. But we gotta deal with him for at least one more episode because Vince gave Dom a job as his bodyguard. Wonderful. There's really no reason for Vince to feel like he owes Dom anything.

Ari had his own little storyline going on. His daughter has started dating some child actor punk who's in talks to revive the Cody Banks franchise. I suppose it was funny and the chump kid had a few good lines ("I'll IM you late night, ciao."), but ultimately what does it have to do with anything? It's a dead-end and as far as I can tell it was only there to stretch out an already thin storyline revolving around Dom. Turtle had it right. The crew works much better as a foursome.

Of course Vince is going to have an annoying guy from his old neighborhood try and join his "entourage". That story has to be told. The problem is it didn't work. Good idea, bad execution.

Also, they expect us to believe that the gang bought a multi-million dollar house with no security system?

As Sepinwall says, this is the story about a guy who gets whatever he wants and his friends, but I'm not sure that this is the best way to bring them down to reality, especially when he's so annoying to the viewer.

Then again, we're talking about it, so I guess it worked

Anyone else think he was Sluggo from the Nancy cartoon?

I think he's a good addition. The success of AquaMan was making them too comfortable. Better turmoil from within than without.

Be prepared for some letdowns folks. This show has made something like 20 episodes for this season and I'm sure they have made a few short episodes like last night.

I agree on a lot here. Dom MUST go, and this episode was lacking.

I'm sure Dom will go, and if he doesn't, I'm sure he'll straighten up his act, there's no way Vince can deal with becomming a huge star, and keeping Dom in line.

But, after last weeks episode, which I thought was awesome and watched it about 4 times now, this episode WAS a let down.

But I trust Entourage to step it up the next episode. This show has NEVER let me down 2 weeks in a row. Everyone's allowed to have an off episode now and then.

In the preview for next weeks episode, it appears that Dom gets himself into more trouble, and Vince takes notice along with everyone else. You might see Dom subtracted from the equation as suddenly as he entered it.

After last weeks episode, which I think was a highpoint for the series, last night was an expected letdown.

Sorry you felt that.
Remember the show is about the "Entourage" of a star.

I totally got flashbacks from this... Dom could have been any of three of a my closest friends from growing up. Any one of them would have come into my house - just like that - or on the back patio already barbequeing with girls they "found" nearby. And don't let me have had a pool! I would need a cleaner the next day.

The stories of some of their antics would hake for a whole series in itself.

I tried bringing my old "crew" into my life when I started to do well for myself. Unfortunately some folks from rough circles don't change.

This might sound like heresy. But this episode left me wondering if this was the Jump the Shark episode for Entourage.

Don't get me wrong . . . this is by far my favorite show.

However, it was the worst episode in the entire series thus far.
