Star Jones Vs. Barbara Walters

by Anna Johns, posted Jun 28th 2006 8:40AM
star jones; barbara waltersOh, it is so on.

Barbara Walters is pissed off at Star Jones. Star's surprise announcement yesterday that she's leaving The View wasn't supposed to come until Thursday. At least, that was the plan as Barbara knew it. She was in shock (as were the other gals) when Star opened her big, fat mouth yesterday. Barbara tells the Associated Press that she was even more surprised to hear about the article in People magazine where Star says she feels as though she was fired from The View. It turns out, she was! According to Walters, Star's contract wasn't renewed early this year because viewers don't like her, her dramatic weight loss (somethin' aint' right about it) and her creepy husband. Barbara wasn't going to reveal any of that information but apparently changed her mind after Star's announcement yesterday. Walters said, "I love Star and I was trying to do everything I possibly could -- up until this morning when I was betrayed -- to protect her."

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm watching The View today. I'm hoping for one or more of the following outcomes: a) Barbara makes Star cry, b) Barbara makes Star march off-stage, or c) all-out bitch-slapping, scratching, hair-pulling chick fight.

*UPDATE: Star is gone! Barbara Walters said on today's show that she is no longer on the program. What's better than kicking Star's ass? Taking her off television! Go Barbara!!!

I am shocked and appalled at how this situation with Star Jones was handled. Star Jones does not have to tell anyone anything about her personal life, weight loss etc.. What ABC did to her was inexcusable and I don't blame her for going it alone in explaining the situation. How on earth was she supposed to "go out with dignity" when there were persistent rumors about her leaving the show and reporters camped out in from of her house waiting to pounce? This was the fault of irresponsible people at ABC, who apparently could not keep their mouths shut until the appointed time.
When I did watch the show, I enjoyed listening to Star. She gave the show some color (no pun intended) in many, many ways. This episode shows that these networks want to own you and your body, life and words. Star jones will rise again and the minority community should support her in the best way that they know how - BY NOT WATCHING ABC. Fair is fair and ABC and Barbara Walters crossed the line by what they did to her. Take that ABC!!! - and Watch those ratings!!!

wonder If rosie had made awful comments about any of the other women from the view. Would she have still been hired? I think not! I use to look at the view as not just friends but family ... it's hard watch them everyday laughing, joking and having fun I'm not! sure if it's real anymore. I wonder if star was still big fat and unhappy would she still be there.

After all family sticks together. If someone makes fat jokes about my friends or love ones no way I would hire them. Unless I wanted to hurt them that's what the view did to star. clearly all the love and bonding I watched each day was fake. My advise the to the remainder girls of the view. what happen to Star is like a woman taking another woman's man. He left his woman for you and one day he'll leave you for another woman. One day you may find yourself on the front-page like star. I felt the view had more class than that! something happen in the background and was played out in the foreground. I expected more from "The View" .

Also I went to the views website to voice my opinion as they say give my VIEW only to find they closed the site down HUMMMMMMMMMMMM a show called "The View" that doesn't want our view. Well, they shut star down and judging by closing the website they shut us down also. the view stinks for here.

It's a good thing that Rosie O'Donnell is coming to The View, then the program staff won't know who is the bigger Bitch--Barbara or Rosie!

I can't believe how judgmental many of you are being. A person's health and weight loss is no one's business but their own. And you verbally attack her husband...why? These people have never hurt anyone. There are two different situations here... 1.If you didn't like Star Jones Reynolds' behavior on the show, then you didn't have to watch and you should be fine with it now. 2. Star's behavior in leaving the show has been honest and done in a manner to try to take some control of her own life after ABC has been continuously leaking information about her for months. The way ABC, Barbara Walters and Bill Geddies handled her leaving the show was inexcusable. Walters and Geddies lied and encouraged Star to lie. They didn't like it when she told the truth, so now they are trashing her. Why anyone would ever watch their show now after their lying and pompous behavior is beyond me.

When it comes to ratings and how long Rosie will last it reminds me of The Debra Norvil(I think that's how you spell it) Joan Lundon switch back in the 80's when it was perceived that Debra was booting Joan out of her job ratings crashed and they quickly took her off the air.all I can say is fans tend to have loyalty and right now the Views fan base of women who most know what its like to feel like you were stabbed in the back by co workers or friends at least one time in there life don't seem happy. Star was like my sister don't always like her she pisses me off sometimes and is annoying but she is family.

Does the TV watching public even want to see Rosie O'Donnell on TV again? I think Not--see how fast the ratings will drop, once that big mouth Rosie appears!

One down... ??? to go? Elizabeth will hopefully be next. She thinks her crap doesn't stink. I mean come on, she got the gig because she was a drop-out from Survivor. And I personally am getting sick of her self-righteousness. As far as Rosie is concerned, I guess we'll see what happens. She certainly wouldn't have been MY choice, but then, no one asked me. It remains to be seen how much of a team-player she can be. With her ego, it may be an issue. I heard that she left her own show because her head didn't fit through the door any more.

Interesting, the View's ratings have been dropping in the younger demographics and they have been investigating how to improve them for a year now. Rosie is being promoted as the savior of the show and there is a huge billboard in Times Square announcing her arrival, none of the other co-host are on the picture. So will this be Rosie's show or Barbara's show? I always thought she was an interesting choice and I wanted to see how Rosie fit in a group dynamic vs her own show. But I never thought of her as the main draw for the show.

I'm not a fan of Star Jones but I did appreciate her legal point of view. Elizabeth drives me nuts so maybe I was always yelling at her and ignoring what Star was saying.
