Star Jones talks to Larry King tonight

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 29th 2006 2:11PM
Larry KingOh, I can tell this story isn't  going away any time soon.

Star Jones, who recently quit/was fired from The View, will tell her side to Larry King tonight at 9 on CNN. Of course, this is after telling her side to People, Ryan Seacrest, The New York Daily News, her mailman, the woman who does her hair, five or six waiters, and twelve strangers she stopped on the street.

They're already wondering "who can replace Star Jones on The View?" Some of the suggestions mentioned include Connie Chung, Gayle King, and Kathie Lee Gifford. May I suggest a potted plant?

Star Jones fought for the right for every one to be able to voice his or her opinions.Yes she went over board on her wedding but for five years her co hostesses pushed marriage and babies down her throat and she should have been happy and excited about her new life. Star put class on the show a beautiful intelligent black woman with strong beliefs and stronger opinions large or small...Star and Merideth were the only reasons to watch the show and now they are going to have a loud mouth pushy overbearing has been comedien on.All Rosie can do is loud talk over others rights and opinions.Te show made a huge mistake with that one and not because she's gay but because she is phony sweet and anybody with any commom sense can see she's mean spirited and very controlling.GoodBye The View!!

Star, the name says it all. She was born to twinkle. A set up her parents obviously thought was appropriate. Never liked her nor her opinions. Ego centric and showed obvious distain for many guests, including Rosie and Kathy Lee Gifford, neither of which will be successful and it has nothing to do with God. What about someone of substance, Kathy Griffin, Felicia Rashad, Why does it have to be an actress? How about a psychologist, a politician, a novelist, a reporter (remember Lisa Ling). I would love to see more of a racial mix besides 5 white ladies and one black, Chinese anyone, South America? Lets get one person from each ravaged group in America. I'm up for an unknown over the same old anxiety riddled gay kidded comic. Take a chance ABC, do a nationwide search of talented American women.
Sincerely,
Carol, NYC

Starr has never been a favorite of mine and never will be...she is kind of a phoney baloney...But...in all regards and respect professionally, Barbara Walter was Dead Wrong in the whole way this was handled ! And i might add Babs certainly is not someone I have high regard for either....She has showed just how low she can go and as far as i'm concerned she is a finished, washed up, River Rat !! Bringing Rosie O'Donnell on the show is a hugh mistake...nothing lady like about that Dyke....I won't be watching the show, cuz I don't think it'll last...how could it? The whole thing is based on Betrayal, Deceipt and Lies ! My respect is gone !

Who cares? Who watches that fluff anyway? For that matter, do thinking people still watch TV?

This is the way I see it:
1) Barbara Walters has a right to be disappointed in Star Jones due to the fact that it is her show and says what can and cannot be said to protect the show's reputation.
2)Star was no different than Debbie,'what's her name', who was also let go when her contract was not renewed. I'm sure it will happen to the others some time down the line. It was a job and it ended. She should not have taken down the show with her. As much as I liked Star's objectivity on some of the show's issues, I do not think she handled herself professionally. Being an attorney, she should understand that when a contract is over, it's over.
3) Barbara Walter's show made star a star. Star let it get to her head and suddendly believed that she was sooooo great that she had the authority to expose "behind the scene" realities that the public is not and should not, (in the name of professionalism), be privvy to. I don't care what anyone thinks of Star, that was just wrong.
4) Star claims that Walters was a mentor, yet, she thought she'd go it alone and disregard her mentor's experience and expertise, when it came to making the decision she made, leading me to believe that she never saw Walters as a true mentor in the first place.
5) Personally, I don't care for Rosie O'Donnell. I don't see her as someone with intelligence and therefore, don't care for her impassioned views or childish humor. I would have liked it if Barbara and the other VIEW execs. to have selected someone that ALL women can respect and who young women would like to emulate; like the psychologist that Oprah always brings on the show for advice, or another educated professional who women and girls could look up to. Furthermore, I think it's time to let Elizabeth and the other loud mouth go too. Give the show a fresh start. Bring on several intelligent women who can really think!
6) I think Barbara should not have lost her professionalism either.

Okay guys, think about it this way: You're Star Jones. You're announcing your departure from The View on Thursday. But you've set up this big interview with People that will be released Tuesday. What do you do? You up and announce in on Tuesday without telling anyone in advance. Voila!

Babsy may seem a bit the frigid witch on this, but keep in mind that Star broke her agreement to make the announcement Thursday.

I have never been a real fan of Star, but after watching the way that she was treated on the View ,i have determined that Star has gained my respect and my loyalty. when anyone is betrayed and backstabbed the way she was ,they will surely gain my support. When you really stop and think about it, what has she really done but get married and lose weight. Never did I know that these were reasons for being made a leper and fired simply because you choose to speak your mind. I thought this was AMERICA, where freedom of speech is guranteed by the Constitution. Could it be that there is some devious underlying reason for all this animosity?
After viewing B.W.'s display of treachery and outright hostility, I am dismayed that she could ever say anything else that could affect my life, so I and my household and friends, etc. will no longer be viewers of the View for any reason. My viewing stopped on Tuesday when Star announced her "firing".Barbara W. and her repugnant cold blooded execs are left to their own devices. I consider her and ABC fodder for the dogs. They all need to learn that there is a right way to treat people and a wrong way. What they did was WRONG!

First heard about the Star Jones to-do on "The Colbert Report" last night, which should speak volumes about how newsworthy this whole thing is to me. They may say that Meredith Vieira is the one getting out while the getting is good, but it was Lisa Ling before her who saw the writing on the wall and abandoned the show to follow her passion with National Geographic. IMHO, Rosie O is a feeble choice to replace Star because what she might bring to the party is already covered by Joy Behar, who is the only reason I ever watched the show on a consistent basis. Star's whole proposal on the basketball floor, wedding plans ad nauseam, and her religious pontifications both turned my stomach and turned me off completely from watching. I doubt that Star can go back to being whatever it was she was before, so making a big fuss about her departure is the only way she can hold on to her fleeting fame. Now that the show has become a table of white women sitting around talking, the ratings will plummet.
