Star Jones is ugly

by Anna Johns, posted Jun 30th 2006 10:55AM
star jones; larry kingYes, she looks freakish since losing all that weight, but the ugliness I'm talking about is her character. Star Jones is taking her sob story to the media and, in doing so, making a complete ass of herself. Earlier this year, Star learned that The View would not be renewing her contract. According to co-host/producer Barbara Walters, it was because audience polling showed that people don't like Star since her suspiciously dramatic weight loss and her everything-is-for-sale wedding to Al Reynolds. Last night, Star told Larry King that The View producers told her to make up a story about why she was leaving. Why would they say something like that? How about because they wanted to spare her the embarrassment of being booted off the show because she's unlikable? That's what happens in television. Just look at your local news station. Anchors get hired and fired all the time based on audience polls. It seems like Star is on this media blitz because her pride is hurt, not because of any benefit to her dwindling fans. Star's behavior this week exemplifies why audiences don't like her: she's selfish and she has no dignity.

I have lost respect for Barbara Walters, Bill Gedde, and CORPORATE ABC. Star, your fired and we don't care what story you tell the viewes, we'll stand behind you. Different situation when Star told the truth to all the world. Elisabeth "little miss perfect" is the blah one and has nothing to offer. I predict The View will be struggling to stay on board. I'm so happy. I finally got on a site that isn't a hate fest of Star. She is a brilliant woman who has worked hard to rise above her poverty upbringing. Who wouldn't be proud of that? Who wouldn't want to brag a little? We're all human and have our faults. I always liked to hear Star explain legal issues on the View. She has a way of speaking that is very understandable. I just don't get the venom that is coming out of web sites against Star. Pure hatred. I was glad to see Barbara Walters show her "Ice Queen" side. No one watching could miss her cold persona. The true woman coming through. That fake smiling face covering a world of deception. I hope the world sees her for what she is.

I was a fan of The View until Tuesday, June 27th when Star announced that she was leaving the talk show. I read the rumors and there were many circulating online months ago. I watched the Larry King interview last night and was very proud of Star and I know she will continue to have a successful career.

Personally, I watched because of Meredith and Star and depending on the guests for the day. I loved the way they talked over each other. Live and un-rehearsed dysfuntion on daytime television is hilarious.

I will sit back and see who will be chosen as the replacement for Star. There is no way that Gayle King would ever leave Oprahs coat-tail, I mean, side for a tableseat on The View.

(btw) Rosie O'Donnell will probably make Elisabeth cry on the air during their first political-based Hot Topic...lol

This Fall, I will be watching Martha Stewart and Rachel Ray, not The View. And it has absolutely nothing to do with the departure of Star Jones. When Barbara Walters announced that Rosie O'Donnell would replace Meredith Viera, that was the last straw. Rosie O'Donnell?? She is already very controversial and if Barbara thinks that Star was difficult, wait until Miss Rosie gets her panties in a wad about something. I cannot even imagine Elizabeth Hasselback warming up to that awful O'Donnell. What a shame too--I used to love watching The View.

BTW I may have posted under this blog but I do not share the same opinion as OP "Yes, she looks freakish since losing all that weight" - Weight issues are a sensitive subject and how someone looks AFTER the weight comes off is quite irrelevant - unless this WHOLE issue is about her weight coming off - I am sure no one wants to believe that to be true.

" Hey, I'm no fan of Star's either, but you have to hand it to her - she stuck it to the man! (i.e. Barbara)
I think Babs is just ticked that Star exposed the sham that is The View. And come on......Rosie? I used to enjoy Rosie's show, but as her true persona came to light (not her lesbianism, her loudmouth, pushy, obnoxious and hypocritcal personality) I tuned out. I cannot think of a more classless choice than Rosie. How embarrassing. They already have the "New York broad" in Joy......I think this will be the straw that broke the camel's back.

I think Star chose her words very carefully on Larry King and did a good job. And after 9 years, isn't she entitled to explain why she is leaving in her words? "

WELL said Geri !! - hope you don't mind my "repeating" it ... It's just that YOU said exactly what I feel.

Star wasn't a favorite of mine but she has gained some points for being truthful and gracious while under attack. All of the accusations from ABC are sounding very unprofessional. I would have expected more from Barbara Walters.

Come on ladies, star jones was just a pawn on the VIEW
they wanted a black woman to make the circle complete.
Star jones was not liked they just make it seem so beause of TV ratings. But to have ROSIE in with STAR it would be cat fight all the time and the network new it so star had to go!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Please don't be fooled ladies and gentleman, what is shown to the public is never the way it is. The public claim they don't like a lot of people but continue to watch on tv, listen to on the radio, etc. So, regardless of how fickle the people are that have opinions of celebrities, bottom line...Jones is going to be just fine. Liked or disliked, Walters, The View and all haters are making her more and more famous as we speak...oh yeah, you too Rosie...(yuk!, what was Walters thinking) The View says Jones' rating went down because of her looks, but you bring on Rosie...that should go over well. Good job!
