Kyle XY breaks ABC Family record

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 2nd 2006 9:21AM

Kyle XYThat new show Kyle XY - which sounds a lot like John Doe, only for teens - set a record for ABC Family last week. 2.6 million viewers tuned into the debut episode.

This USA Today article lists all the shows, like Kyle XY, that are getting some airtime on the the bigger networks that are owned by the same company. This show was on ABC this weekend, and of course we've seen both Queer Eye and Battlestar Galactica on NBC (over from Bravo and The Sci-Fi Channel).

I'd like to see this continue. What cable shows would you like to see on the big networks so they get more exposure?

They've also done this with 'Monk' showing up on ABC, and currently the first season of 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' had been getting a limited showcase on Fox Sunday nights.
I hear 'Psych' may end up being rebroadcast on NBC?

I don't think there's any way you could take a hatchet to 'Rescue Me' and clean it up for the networks, but then I would have thought the same thing about 'The Sopranos' and they're coming soon to at least a regular cable outlet, so who knows.

I'd first like to see 'Hustle' show up on perhaps CBS - after all, that used to be the "Tiffany network" and 'Hustle' is a real gem. I just don't know where it would work on the schedule and there's also its length to deal with.

But I think the best might be 'The Dead Zone', and make sure it gets some crossovers with the CBS procedurals. It'd be nice to see Anthony Michael Hall working with Jennifer Finnnigan again in a very special episode of 'Close To Home', for example.

Monk. A fantastic detective show that reminds me a lot of Colombo because they were both kind of ecentric.

I have to give it a bit more time to be sure, but I'm *really* liking It's Always Sunny In California. Of course, that would go to Fox and they would kill it, so I'm happy with it staying where it is. Plus, they would have to lose all the "sh!ts" which would kind of be annoying.

The Closer is another candidate for me, as well.
