(S02E04) Welcome to the results show, or as I saw it tonight, the evening of non-originality. The most innovative thing this evening was Lukas's makeup. He seems to do more with his makeup each night than most of the women. Most male singers throw on a little eyeliner and that's it. Lukas must have a trunk-sized make-up kit. The singers tonight however decided to recycle everything that had already gone before.Toby wins the encore, which I don't quite get. He's good enough I suppose, and quite a tasty muffin but I would have given the encore to Phil. The bottom three are Jill, Zayra and naturally Chris.
Jill sings "Bring Me To Life." I'm not sure why she picks a song we have already heard and which didn't really work for the last person who sang it (I think it was Zayra). Yes, she can sing and yes she is hot but still, it's not an amazing performance. And was it my imagination or did she cross herself while singing?
Zayra sings "You Really Got Me" which is what she sang the night before. She does it a little differently but this is still a risky move. To me it seem like hubris, like she is saying, "I know you all thought this was awful but you don't have any taste because clearly I rock this song." Not so much.
Chris sings "If You Could Only See" which Phil sang the night before. Now Phil may not have great stage presence but he does have a better voice than this. Chris gets his well-deserved walking papers. He tried very hard though and the band members are very sweet to him. They clearly like him and he seems like a great guy.
